How to use the undergrowth tool?

I painted grass and flowers but nothing happens.
No undergrowth appears on my map.
Can anyone tell me how to use this tool?
Or are there any tuts on the web?

My map is almost done, just grass and flowers are missing.
Its a little "deathmatch" styled junglemap with ambientsounds, loading music and -screen.
