BF2 video.con file and screen resolution

I've read all the numerous threads about screen resolutions through the search forum, but yet haven't found a way to increase screen resolution extrenally, (to go above the 1152 x 864 in-game resolution limit). I have a Dell 2005FPW and it has a native resolution of 1680 x 1050 @ 75 Hz. However when i go into the video.con file and open it up and change the resolution, save it, and then i click on "Play Battlefield 2" it goes black for a second, like it would go into the intros, but then it shuts down. Am i doing something wrong? Can bf2 not have 16:9 or 16:10 ratios? If you guys have resolutions above 1152 x 864, how did you do it? Thanks for your help.

Just adjust the shortcut?

"X:\Battlefield 2\BF2.exe" +menu 1 +fullscreen 1 +szx 1280 +szy 1024

i love mre's the crackers are great , and why are you trying to run the game on that high of a res, what kinda card do you have?

A good one,(see my signature) but its not just the card, my system is pretty much unbelievable.Anyways i got the resolution to be any resolution that supports the 1.25 ratio, like 1280 x 1024, or 1400 x 1120, yet i cannot get it to be 1680 x 1050 (monitors native resolution), i guess bf2 can't support widescreen, but i guess it can't "support" anything above 1152 x 864. Anyways i could get it really high with a 1.25 ratio but I'll just wait until a patch comes out supporting 16:10, because when i put in 1680 x 1050 in the shortcut it didn't work. Well thanks for the help.
