A gunners needs from a pilot

Ok I hope this thread will help the relationship between the pilot and weapons systems specialist. I want to hear what makes a good pilot from the gunners point of view.

For example:

I can tell you the best way to aim the chopper so the gunner can use the missile cam easier.

Just remember pilots:

The gunners TV missle cam is between the "gunner directory" box and your cross hair, so dont aim with your crosshair, aim between it and the box.

I think a good pilot is someone that doesnt fly selfishly and listens to your suggestions, instead of just doing his own thing.

i good pilot is one who lets you use your TV missles to take out tanks and not be a cocky ass and and try to kill everything with his rockets

A good pilot is one who worries more about keeping both of you in the air and alive than he does about setting up for your tv missile shot.

A good gunner gets his shot anyways.

I consider tanks to be a waste for tv missile, since it is the one target that is ridiculously easy to take out with rockets. Save the tv missile for other copters, jets---yes, I said jets, mobile AA, and stinger sites.

As a gunner, its most annoying to me when people fly erraticly when not even being shot at. Makes things impossible to hit, specially with the Cobra cannon

Get a clanmate or someone you know and make a squad with them and get into the helo. Then fly really high so that people wont be able to see you will from the ground. Let the gunner do the talking and then just Rain the TV missles from above! :evil:

Needs to keep the nose up so the missiles can reach it, and giving the gunner some good shots at anti-aircraft emplacements

i just use the pilots missles and blow the hell out of the AA emplacements just to intimidate anyone who gets any ideas about trying to shoot me down! :evil:

As a helicopter pilot I ALWAYS set up my gunner for the best possible shot. It just means more points for me. :)

Good post boys lets shift the topic a little bit, now lets talk about strafeing strategies. Personally as a pilot I will attack the stinger site whether manned or not. Just to take it out, then I set up the gunner for shots.

Dont forget gunning on the Blackhawk. Some pilots dont think about which direction they are facing for their gunners to shoot. I was gunning on a BH one time and the pilot swopped down on a flag to cap it and he had the nose of the chopper pointing directly at an AA emplacement so neither gunner on either side of the chopper could hit it. Of course we got blown out of the sky. He was probably wondering why we didnt shoot the AA because he never moved the chopper even after getting hit a couple times.

I like piloting the BH with just one gunner on one side and then circling an enemy flag continuosly. If the gunner is good you can really rack up the points with kill assists.

The best pilots line you up. They listen to you, and when in a jet, they fly slow so you can get a laser lock. They hover above APCs and Tanks so you can TV them into oblivion, and most importantley, they use flares. You wouldn't believe how many pilots don't use flares, even when I scream over the mic: STINGER!! USE FLARES! FLARES!!!!

I have enjoyed gunning for about two weeks and I have flown with about 3 pilots that could be classified as effective pilots in all senses.

The ERYX is in my opinion the best weapon in game if used properly. But it really does take a bit of a synergy to reap its benefits and that takes a good pilot who uses his gunner and a gunner who uses his good pilot.

All in all I still practice with the ERYX every possible time because its literally a blast to use and is not unlike having a pinpoint artillery round.
