New to Mods, can someone explain how they work?

Hi, I've never played a modded game before in my life. I would like to know how they work. Will I still be able to play the normal game online? Or is this just something to do when the original game gets boring? Can you have more than one mod at a time? Thanks. Sorry for the newb ?

of course you can play the normal game, these mods come with shortcuts so u can play the modded version, or using your old shortcut will make u play vanilla version of BF2, also, i think, if u go to "Comunity" in the main menu from BF2, u can use what mod u want to play and even choose the normal version, so.. relax man, it will be cool, just give it a try

Mods are additions to the game, all the battlefield series games are set up so you are able to mod it. If you took a look in your Battlefield 2 folder in your program files you will notice there is a folder called Mods. This is where the objects and stuff is stored for the normal game. So it is basically a mod. People create mods and they go right into that folder, along with expansion packs. You can then chose what mod you want to play in game. Most mods are total conversions, this meaning they are a totally new mod and dont use any objects from the origional game. Then there are mods that change the origional game. Also, custom maps are made, and these can be made for various different mods.
