Well... when I had my good old ATi Radeon 9600, BF2 just crashed to desktop like it was supposed to be. One week ago, I got a 9800 Pro from my friend. Now besides I've been getting VPU recover errors which I turned it off just now, I'm also frequently experiencing random crash of the game with some constant beeping noises in the speakers. when that happens, the system hangs. the computer is not responding to any input so that i have to restart it. I'm pretty sure the problem is on the video card, cuz when the game crashes, the screen goes blank, I can see some corrupted images show up for half a second or something if taking a close look.
btw, none of the components in my computer is overheated, cuz I have the system monitoring program on all the time. I have all the updated drivers. I've thought about the possibility of being caused by unstable power supply, so i changed sensor thresholds to the smaller ranges, hoping to get warnings for troubleshooting purpose. but apparently, the game still crashes without any warnings.
Specs:
P4 2.6GHz
Intel D875PBZ
1G DDR RAM
ATi Radeon 9800 Pro 128MB
Creative Audigy
Any suggestion or advice is appreciated.
