Not performing well as it should.

    I have...
    Asus K8V SE-Deluxe
    A64 3200 Newcastle
1 gig of RAM... I think Corsair and Kingston or Centon
    AIW X800XT.
With every possible eye candy at 1024x768 with 4 AA, my FPS isn't consistently high... what could be the problem?

Well, hundreds of people have this problem with BF2, even when they don´t have problems with other games. Download ATI tray tool and tweak around with the options. Turn off geometric instancing for example.

Shut down any Anti virus programs such as McAffe or anything else.

What do people usually get FPS-wise with a high-end system?

Mine isn't considered very high end anymore, but I get between 40-100 fps with everything on medium, 4x AA and a forced resolution of 1280 x 1024. I stay within a consistent 50-60 fps when playing and never dip below 30.

I have tweaked my rig, raised my AGP aperture to 256, and turned off AGP fast write and have noticed a significant performance increase. I also uninstalled my Norton Antivirus 2005 and saw an immediate boost. You should try doing this before anything else.

This site has a wonderful tweak guide for not only Battlefield 2, but also for ATI and Nvidia video cards. I would follow these guides first and see if anything helps.

Also run your antivirus, spybot programs, and then finally defrag your system and reboot.

I get 60+ FPS with my video card....if it stays cool enough, lol.

Please keep in mind I'm running this at 1024x768, so X800XT should be able to perform very well... but it doesn't... Oh, and did I mention that the texture corruption bug is really annoying? At least it randomly happens, allowing me to play most of the time.

Since you brought this up I am going to try it but what I'd like to know, if you can explain, what is geomaetric instancing?

I've got 2 gigs of pc3200 memory and I get framerate drops too. More noticeable in 64 player servers.

                      3.2ghz P4
                      2gig PC3200 Corsair
