Here is a sensible mid range and high range computer-

I dont know much about Mobos so could someone help me out?

-MID RANGE-

-AMD 64 3200+ Around £500-600
-OCZ GOLD 2-2-2-5 RAM 1GB
-Nvidia 6600GT 128mb
-120GB hardrive

-HIGH END- Around £800-900

-AMD 64 3500+
-OCZ PLAT RAM 1-2GB
-6800GT

I exclusively use Asus boards. The A8N-SLI would compliment that nicely. DFI makes good boards too, but I'm not familiar with models so I can't be specific. If you're using Nvidia gpu's definitley go SLI. If you ever plan on going ATI wait for the CrossFire boards to be released. I don't think the 3500 is a good High end processor choice. I'd say a 4400+ X2 is a better bet. You just don't get the bang for the buck from the 3500+.

- HARD DRIVE : Hitachi 160GB 7200RPM

- VIDEO CARD :ATI RADEON X700 PRO 256MB

and alot of other good stuff all for about $800

I would use the same mobo for both the midrange and highend. In other words a highend mobo for both systems as the mobo is the backbone of the system. You can put inferior components on a good motherboard and upgrade later, but if you by an inferior mobo when you want to upgrade to a better proc. or SLI you have to by 2 parts.

I agree, for AMD64 based systems, the Asus AN8-SLI series boards are very nice. Of course if you want a super high end system you could get the Abit Fatal1ty board (which btw, I hate this Fagtal1ty craze every company is on, so what he is a geek that is good at computer games?!)
