PC reboots on game launch

Hi Gents,

You have probably heard this 100 times before and i am probably asking the impossible but I thought what the hell as I am a little annoyed to say the least.

Installed the game no probs with directX 9.0 c all went on fine. When I got to launch the game it starts to load up, black screen and the monitor clicks in to set the game resolution but then my PC restarts.

I have tried with the patch but doesnt make a difference. SO i then stupidly looked at the system requirements (always helps) but my system is less than a few months old considering all the replacement bits.

NOW my graphics card is: Geforce FX5600XT 256mb I mean its not the best card but it works pretty much with any game until this happened. I can run Doom3 on Ultra mode and get some outstanding visuals on numerous other titles including FarCry.

My question is obvious my card is not supported so the game does not run, so is there anyway round this apart from buying a new card as this one is less than 8 months old and has anyone managed to get the FX5600 series to work with BF2?

Thanks for any help guys, I realise I am probably forcing the issue here.

As far as I know, no one has gotten this specific card to run, however people have gotten a Radeon 9200 AGP to work, so perhaps a fix maybe simular. Snoop around for those fixes, see if that doesn't fix your card as well. If not try updating your drivers and things. Otherwise, yes you will most likely need a new video card. And FYI, 8 months is pretty long for computers :p

Thanks for the reply. Unfortunately I have the latest drivers this is so annoying. Sorry to be a pain but where would I find some of these fixes if any that relate to my card? I don't fancy spending $300 on a card as I need a new car! LOL. but at the same time I wanna play seeing as I was stupid enough to buy it and presume everything would be kosher.

8 months is an average amount of time I agree with you but discarding the 5600 series is beyond me they are stable pieces of kit!

--Ok so my Nvidia 5600 graphics card is a little outdated, it didnt even make the "supported graphics card" list on the readme, but I can play it.

Well unfortunately it is bad news non of the fixes seemed to have worked with FX5600 256mb.

But this program seems quite interesting. Just I am no techie in this department and theres like 40+ options to check and uncheck for the graphics card but the recommended ones that this guy used for Lego Star Wars didnt work for me.

Does anyone know which options I should check to even get the game to run without my PC rebooting? I don't mind if there is squares for graphics but just to check that it is my card causing the problem. (or should I say BF2) lol

Regarding the B2 problems with pixel shader / nvidia cards.
We have had problems with another game Lego Star Wars and we have nvidia cards on all of our 3 pcs.The game also has the Pixel shader with it.It ran the best of my main pc but only for about 3 minutes. Tried again same thing happened. Found out that there is hardly no technical help on website. After doing a lot of digging found a program that you can tweak so the games ran. I don't know if it will be any good for B2 because it had more than one game listed.
