    Total Newb needs some help

Hello, Just bought the game yesterday, have like 5 hours play experience now and cant wait to get home and play some more. I have to say I am pretty overwhelmed by this game so far, I have been plaing CS for the past 6 years and BF2 is far more complex.

Where is the best place to get info on how to play this game, the instruction manual doesn't tell me enough? I so far have the following questions:

    1) It seems like everyone is just running back anforwarth trying to recapture uncaptured flags all the time. What am I supposed to do, just follow all my little blue dots on the map to the next flag, rinse and repeat? All I have been doing is trying to run or drive to the action and find someone to kill. Any gameplay tips are appreciated.

    2) I know that the turrets give commanders the ability to call in a strike but I also see other structures near the big bases. One is a rotating radar and the other is a little room like structure, where does it tell me what these things do and how to claim them for my team.

I guess I am looking for the basic gameplay information. There is the ingame tutorial but sometimes it is not clear enough. Is there any way to reset the ingame tutorial so that it tells you everything all over again?

I could probably ask questions for ever and I dont expect anyone to take the time to answer them all. But if you can help please do. I am reading this board alot and it gives some great strategy lessons and tips and tricks but I dont see the really basic information like "what is it that allows you to see an enemy red dot on your map when they are nearby?"

    Thanks for any help

    1. cap flags. shoot the enemy. pick up chicks.
    2. guns=artillery. radar=scan. trailer=uav. they are already yours, ignore them.

What size maps are you playing on? Even though the maps are scaled based on the number of players, the most action is always found on 64 person servers.

ah, fresh meat! jkjk. welcome to the forums!

        1) yes, your observations are correct...the point of the game is to capture all the capturable flags from your enemy and to hold them. of course, there is more to it than just running to the nearest flag and sitting there. there are literally thousands of strategies out there...u will simply need to pick up ones that work for you over time, as there is no simple way to explain them. i find that reading thru these forums help somewhat...but u learn mostly from experience.

        2) the "rotating radar" is just that: its your team's radar. it helps the commander scan the map for enemies so that he can launch arty strikes or tell squads what to do. the little room-like structure is the UAV control. nobody can get in, but without it, your commander will not be able to launch UAVs to scan a small patch of area for enemies. this in part answers your last question...when a UAV is scanning an area, enemies will show up as red dots.

        hope this helps

The little room like building is the UAV, it gives the commander the ability to spawn a drone in the sky so that everyone on the team can see enemies in that particular area, it lasts for 30 seconds.

The turning Radar is a radar scan for the commander. He can scan the whole map and it will show him all the enemies on the map but not his team.

You can play this game in different ways, just about anyhow you would like to, you can attack and go after the bases. You can defend, or do both or anything else you can think of. It is up to you. But most success you would get in being in squads that know what they are doing.

To make the dude explain some stuff to you again the only way to do that I think is to delete your account and make it again or make a new account which will require a new email.

ahahaha fresh meat, well yeah acutal i had the reverse of your experience because i was playing bf2 then switch to counter-strike like yesterday wasn't pretty, anyway well this game isn't as straight foward as cs and it's a lot slower and yeh u do bascally go from flag to flag because it is conquest after all and unlike cs people respawn, also bunny hopping and jumping around like and idoit will not help like it does in cs. Unlike cs you have a base commander and the radar thing ur talking about is used by him and variou other tool such as the uav hut thing and the artillery. This game requires a lot more team play to get the job done then cs does, u can't just go straight at em and expect to win because there are tanks apc you have to worry about(remember tank vs u not good odds on that one) u can lonewolf too i usually do, but coming from personal experience even though ur not part of a sqaud bascally follow the crowd and most important rule is when everyone is shooting shoot in the same direction and one more thing its not how many bullet u get on the target it how accurate the shots are

Now how about you re-write that in at least 2 paragraphs with senstenses and a little better grammar because it's so hard to read your text. No offense man, just giving you tips on making better posts.

you have been playing with retards. Half the team should defend and then another half should go on offense. Not to mention on offense you run into the enemie alot of times.

Oh not to mention, Counter strike is alot slower because it's not realistic. People can't sprint that fast forever. With alot of gear on.

                      Join a squad.

Press Return, click on the 'Squads' tab, join a decent size squad.

Advantages: Commander can order the squad leader to do something, and the SL can pass the order to you with a single keypress, so you know what to do.

You can talk to other squad members,

You can respawn next to your SL if you die.

Yep as above joining a squad is the best advice, you can set yourself spawn at the squad leader if you like that way if its a good squad you can follow them and get a feel for what to do.

If you have a r/l mate to play online with then you can both go in the same squad and go on your own little missions.

For instance you could go as SpecOPS and he as support and you can carefully make your way to the other teams main base (thats where they keep there radar and artillery etc) you can C4 there radars and artillery and when you run out of C4 (you never get quite enough to blow all artillery in one go) your mate can give you ammo packs and give you cover with his SAW to help you finish the job. :)

I just bought the IGN.com guide and Prima guide last nite
                          sadly... learned little ;;;
(should have bought them day 2, not day 32)
but have about 90 hours of game time
and even more time in the forums
(where I learned most of my intel)

also. the game is GREAT (IMHO)
better when on squads (ie TEAMPLAY)

                          but simply AWESOME IMHO
when you join a clan and use Ventrilo
