First off; excuse if this has already been clarified, I have tried to find it (not only here, I browsed a lot of other forums on this issue).
As the threadtitle suggests, my issues are with the bombardier (secondary gunner/co-pilot) in the bomberjets. We all know these have laser guided missiles, we all know we need a considerate pilot and we even know it's best to slow down to give the gunner time to lock. What - however - no one seems to know is exactly WHY the rockets sometimes lose their lock imediately and why they sometimes go nowhere. You know what I'm talking about, I've seen it in other threads around here.
I'm a fanatic co-pilot together with a good mate of mine, who is the pilot. We kick ass together, as any good team would, but sometimes these laser guided rockets piss me off so hard. They sometimes - completely randomly - seem to go nowhere for some reason. We personally think it has something to do with wings of the jet (rockets are attached to the wings, left an right). In case you haven't noticed, these rockets have - what seems - 2 identical slots (as you would on a chopper; 1 slot for the TV guided rocket en 1 for the cannon). However I don't think they're slots, as slots would mean that you can select the first or the second, which is not the case here. They only seem to react when using mousewheel, or when pressing the 2 button. Maybe some frequent bombers on here can experiment a bit, try to figure out what they're for?
My questions:
Does anyone know FOR A FACT why these rockets malfunction?
Does anyone know if the "slots" I described above have anything to do with it?
If yes, how do you operate them correctly, if not, what are the slots for?
Thanks for taking the time to read what I had to say, hoping to get some answers because I want to sort this malfunctioning out.
EDIT: a suggestion for the slots might be that they have reserved two slots for each secondary gunner (whether in a chopper or a jet), where for the chopper they would be used to switch to cannon/rockets. For co-pilots in jets this doesn't apply, they only have one weapon so maybe thats why there are 2 identical slots for the laser guided missiles.
