    Help With Voice over IP...

My buddy and I were finally able to log on together last night and played in the same squad. He bought a headset to talk with but he can't hear other players talk. Not even the squad leader or the commander.

He went to Audio and enabled Voice over IP and he could hear the sounds in the game and even the sounds of "Get Ammo Here" As in he hears the game talking but he could not hear other players via VOIP. If he has VOIP checked, what else could be causing this problem?

Thanks in advance for any ideas.

      Try this:

Start > Run > type "dxdiag"

On the Audio tab, slide the acceleration to "Basic".

If you have an Audigy2 sound card, I made an extensive post detailing what I did (and many others) have done to rectify some of the problems, again this is ONLY if you have an Audigy2 sound card!

I only recently had this happen, not on all servers though. Starting this past weekend, a buddy and I hopped on a Ranked server, and we had voice comm turned on, and the server had it turned on (no external voice chat that I know of), and we could not hear each other. We logged off, logged onto our server (non ranked), and we could voice chat to one another. We logged off our server, and onto another ranked server, and no voice comm.

Anyone hear of this? Again, this started this past weekend.

Yes, some servers have problems with VoIP. I believe EA is aware of the problem, and v1.03 is supposed to resolve this issue.

Do you think anybody on that server could use VOIP?

I had two friends on. Myself and one friend could talk and I could hear myself over the phone. But my other buddy could not talk or hear me. Could it just have been something in his computer?

I'm hoping it's something as simple as when he turned on VOIP he forgot to hit "Apply" but I told him I would post the problem on a few places and see what I could figure out.

Hmm, have him try what I posted above.

Also try having him run the BF2VoiceSetup.exe located in C:/Program Files/EA Games/Battlefield 2/

Same problem here on multiple servers that have VOIP enabled. Can see the icon as if I'm chatting but my brother on the computer next to me can not here me through squad chat. Hopefully a fix in the next patch for this because it really dulls the game down for me without it.

My problem is different. If I set my VOIP up in options and go into the game it works for a split second. Then quits, its really odd....

I did the download Creative wrapper thing, as well as my buddies, and still very flaky voice comm in squads. They can hear me, but I can't hear the, while others can hear them. Again, this worked fine up until last week, and nothing has changed on our end.

                    WTF?
