    A point of view...

    Hi guys...

    New here...

Bought BF2 about 1 month ago, and what can I say, I am not usually one for these kind of games (apart from CS:S of course), this game is excellent...

I never had the pleasure of playing previous installments of this series, however I think I am doing quite fine upto now, I have just got past my 1st weapon unlock and I am learning the ropes quickly, I have only just come off a game and I am happy to say now I am getting scores in the region of 50+ per round, I can say head held up high that we (as in a group of strangers, compiled of 1st class privates, "new users" if you like), took apart a clan of about 7 MEC's and we did it with style.

Some players I see, in choppers and leading the leaderboard, I look upon them in awe, as their skill is usually of a high calibre...

    However....

Never before in my time playing games, (which is quite a long time), have I saw pure goal greed..

The type of greed you see hovelled in a heap after a night on the booze, man I wish they would paint the floor with their brains, using a bullet as a paint brush...

This games emphasis seems to evolve around good teamwork and communication, respect for your opponent, and resect for "New Users", qualitys in which a minority OR majority of BF2 gamers do NOT have...

A few things:- (to name a few)..

    1. Vehicle Lurchers, these guys wreck my head, on some certain maps, dpeneding on size, there may or may not be one spawn point for major vehicles and some certain players do not allow any other players to use "their" mandate. Fair enough, for a major match or a clan match, yes I can see this being a fair and valid point, but by no means a god given right. Fair enough, if one player (or 2) are substancially better at using the vehicle than other certain players and people have a mutual understanding, fair enough

    2. Team Killing, Yes this is a part of the game that EA, seriously need to look at maybe patching or rectifying, many of times have I been punished, for inadvertantly and/or accidently OR not intentionally killed by planting mines or Claymores, jesus, there is a big red 'X' which pops up when you go anywhere near an area which is booby trapped, do people not know what this means or are they just thick? If someone TK's with a gun or a grenade, ok I am a fair man myself I can see sometimes why Punishing is useful, however I am sure some people just do not like having any competition and/or honour, I urge any members here who condone Punishing by means of right, use your common sense, use your honour, there always another round, press page down. Just another thing I need to get off my chest, i was driving in single file, me in a tank and a "team-mate" in a APC, he knew I was behind him, so we comes across an enemy tank, so he reverses right into me, causing me to get team vehicle damage, so I quickly reverse, he jumps out and I slide down the embankment, killing him, totally by accident, and this "team mate" punishes ME for his mishap.... Total and utter bollocks...!!!!

I don't know how EA are going to, if the intend to rectify this feature, but as a suggestion they should at least knock off one of the stats, maybe top opponent or victim and replace it with how many times he is Tk'd and punished for a TK and deduct a rank if he or she is a serial punisher...

    3. Chopper crashers, A few times I have started a round and someone has jumped in the chopper and radio'd, "Get in", filled the chopper up and bloody crashed it in the most stupid fashion possible, AND THEN TRIED TO DO IT AGAIN... Ok, try your hand at the chopper but don't fill it up in the process, this guy said, "I'm only trying to learn.", LEARN ON A 32 player server, LEARN ON A 32 PLAYER SERVER!!!.. My word...

    4. Glory Hunters... Jesus these guys piss me off, and don't knock me for saying this, but most of the glory hunters I have seen are small newly formed Clans (Im not sterotyping here), who are trying to power level their New additions, these guys wouldn't know the meaning of the word teamwork if it came up and C4'd them right in the arse. They simply jump in their chosen vehicle and off to kill as many opponents as they can, ok this is the aim of the game, and it can help, but by no means is it the total aim of the game, no teamplay and NO HONOUR!... This also goes for players who just simply jump in a chopper, PICK no team mates up and go off into the sunset gunning for those flags...

    5. CERTAIN clans, I am not going to name names here, but I have come across some clans who think they own public server, when they don't, they hassle you to join the MEC if they are USMC, they initiate kicks for anyone who doesn't follow "their" clan rules, they disembowel the true meaning of the game. If they want a clan match, or they want to rule the server GO AND BLOODY RENT ONE!!!

I love this game and I probably always will however some of the points I make are seriously pissing me off, if anyone knows of a genuinly GOOD server out there where I can have a decent game without the tyrany of some certantys please, inform me as I find myself disconnecting more times than I connect...

          Very nice points.

I am an excellent helicopter pilot, I dare say one of the best out there. I use my gunner extremely well, infact, I rarely get kills for people on the ground unless I need to fire, I let my gunner do the work. The thing I'm looking out for is air units. I let the gunner cover the ground.

Now usually I give people the benifiet of the doubt as I love to be gunner as well. So usually after I would say 4-5 runs most people ask me if I want to fly. Of course I don't pass up the oppertunity, so I say sure. Once I fly, most people love to have me as a pilot. My gunner usually has atleast +10 points from my own score, the way it should be.

first off, welcome to the forums!
secondly, i'd agree that that was the first coherent and well-stated rant (note the lack of "OMFG WTFTEHBBQ n00b!!!oneone") i've seen in these forums. glad to have another intelligent player in here :)

um, its quite simple really... its the type of people playing the game. If you played Operation Flashpoint you would see that 95% of the community was mature and into hardcore teamwork.

while bf2 is more of the quakey csy run about and get lots of kills kind of game, its not about teamplay. Sure the developers "try" to make it about teamplay but their game is flawed on many aspects right from the get go of development that throws teamplay out the window. The Bf2 community is about 70% kiddie idiot type, 20% wishy washy teamplay when they feel like it types, and 10% who really try to make it work eacht ime.

This guy took more time making his name then this thread. Nothing new was in this thread, and was the same rants like every other thread, except this time it actually had some commas and a few more periods.

Nice rant, though i read through 20% and found out that i have read the same stuff everywhere else.

But if i had the energy to type perfect posts like this one i would.

                      I agree with PhantomStalker.

EA/Dice intended to have a good teamwork game but they failed to put that though into the "kiddie" brains out there.
There is only ONE game where teamwork means the diffrence between winning or spending 90% of your time as either useless or dead.

That game is Operation Flashpoint, ooh how i love that game!
Im not the one that place alot of weight on graphics, i want smooth game play and massive features. (Along with great replayability)

Anyways, BF2 was stunning when the demo came out and i could not wait to join a squad and use the VOIP function.
In the beginning i found a lot of "mature" gamers that won the flags with great teamwork.

Now people seem to do their thing, struggeling to get points and survive.
There is 5% teamwork in the ranked servers and a majority of that teamwork is medics that revive you. (may it be for the teamwork score but i still consider this a bit of teamwork)

I know it will never happen but if there where a couple of ranked server that enforce teamwork!
Then i would spend 99% of my game time on them i tell you!

Im not very found of clan fights in BF2. (yet)

Unfortunately, with weapons to unlock, racking up kills will always be a priority for players. If you want teamwork all the time, you have to program it so that only the final score really matters. It's not as simple as that of course, but that's one way to do it.

Yeah, Good point too, I can see where you are coming from on that one.

Also, for this being my first post, I don't know what people expect, yes this may well be a "nothing new" rant, however I am sure we have ALL had a moment of rantation and blurted whatever and wherever...

Snipers should also get a point for spotting a vehicle or something for the first time. Then again, point being, there would probably be about 5 snipers in the highest point on the map, fighting it out to spot the enemy.
