    ARGH! BF2 or something else?

Ok, here's the scoop. I recently added some new equipment to my PC. A 7800GTX, and then of course another gig of ram becacuse BF2 is so poorly coded that running 16x12 at 4AA requires more then just a gig (at least if you want to have any chance of living in the first minute of game play). Got all the goodies installed and guess what..?... BF2 Crash. Start it again.. BSOD.

    Rince and repeat.

This is pissing me off. Mind you all the other games have been running flawlessly, as was BF2 before I upgraded (at 12x10 with x2AA and 6800gt). Everything else still runs fine but BF2.

BF2 seems to run w/ 1 gig.. add the 2nd and boom.. crash. I've run memtest for over 12 hours (with both GB). No problem. Prime for 10 hours... no problem. PCmark2001/3/5 and AQM= fine. BF2=crash. Re-install windows and BF=Crash.

The ONLY application that causes issues with 2GB (4x512) is BF2. And it's immediate. Usually I don't even have time to log into a server before it either ctd or bsods on me.

anyone here have any suggestions? I'm starting to get really annoyed. I bought a new vid card to play at max. Then I find out that I can't cause BF2 is so poorly coded that even with a 7800 I need more ram for the textures. Get more ram and BF2 hates it. Crash after bsod after crash. Any help would go along way... specs below.

    Thanks.

    Asus SLI -and- DFI SLI-DR
4x512 OCZ 4800 (memtest stable at 12 hours)
    eVGA 7800gtx
    WD Raptors
    OCZ 520W Powerstream
Audigy 2---> Starting to think this might be the issue...?

Another note. Taking out the 2nd GB of ram and dropping the resolution resolves almost 99% of the issues. Doesn't matter which sticks I take out or leave in (I've tried all the combinations).. 1GB works and 2 doesn't.

    I'm at a complete loss.

Heat is not an issue as the CPU doesn't get above 40C and the GFX card doesn't get above 72C.
