Choppy performance on low

2.6GHz pentium 4 processor.
512MB of RAM.
Radeon 9550 128mb.
1mbit DSL connection.

I know its not great, but it should be able to run fine on all low 800x600 shouldn't it?

I even updated to Omega drivers but It is still choppy. And for reference, I'm using barely any ram before I run BF2, there is no spyware at all.

Does anyone have any ideas?

Change your sound settings to medium or low.

1. BF2 isn't even taking up all my ram currently.

2. All the settings are as low as possible. I wish I could go to 640x480 but it wont let me do that. I don't think my monitor supports that, is there any way to force it?

lol :laugh: it will be, the memory footprint of BF2 is approaching 2Gb.

You do need more ram, that will smooth out "some" of your stuttering.

Well i have 752 ram i think 5500 Video cars Plus its PCI and penntuim 4, 2.5 and its seems to work fine with me at elast! and i think my comp lots worse then urs.

P.s I have cable modem 752 speed i think!

I used to have chopiness on low. All that you have to do is exit steam (if you have it), and shutdown your anitspyware thingy. Just remember to turn it back on when your done.

Defo start tweaking windows if your short on memory....such as shut down non essential background programs. If your feeling clever do a search for services.msc tweaks and shut down non essential windows tasks....a big one is system restore.

Another tip is to keep you desktop icons to a minimum, anything on there uses system memory under the "explorer" task in taskmanager. Another tip is turning off the fancy XP graphics and effects. They utilise memory and hogg resources.

I cant speculate on how these will perform but Im sure the extra gained isnt worth the hassle. Worth a try if your short on RAM.
