yes but not for bf2. also its depends on how much system memory you have.

How do you change the aperature (in good detail) and what does BIOS stand for?

in good detail? not possible.. we dont know the model of your computer.. and bios stands for Basic Input Output System

maybe if you post your computer make/model or motherboard model.. someone will be generous enough to assist you...

              Hmmm... Almost right buddy :).

AGP apeture size shouldn't be set to more than half of your system memory. It tells the computer how much system memory to reserve for textures. I had a X800 XT and I forgot to set my apeture size up from 128 :wall:. I was like WTF I should be able to run it at 1600X1200 everything on high. I raised it to 512 ( I have 2 GBs) and it made a big improvement.

BIOS stands for Basic Input Output System or something very similer to that.

Most users should be able to enter CMOS/BIOS simply by hitting delete after the machine POSTs. You know beeps and counts up all the memory. Carefull about what you change. It is possible to change settings that could potentially damage your machine, as in raising the FSB. You can alter settings and lose stabiltiy. The computer wont even POST and you may have to clear the CMOS manually.

Now changing the AGP apeture size wont do any of that I just give that warning for those whom are totally ignorant of these things. Thats not an insult BTW it just means you don't know.

Every manufacturer is different but in one of the menus you should find a setting for AGP apeture size put your curser on that option and hit page up or page down to change the setting or hit enter and select the size you choose. Once you have the size you want you hit F10 which saves and exits or you can go through the menus and find the option that says "save and exit".

If you happen to change something and your not sure what the setting was before just keep hitting escape until the "pop up" menu says "exit without saving" of course you would choose yes. Another option is to search through the menus until yoo find the option that says "exit without saving".

              Any way hope that helps.

bios = when you start your computer press delete in post/logo screen.

Do you have AGP or PCI-E? This option is not available on PCI-E motherbaords.

Re: 1.5-2 gigs still stutter? try this

To say that there is a definite setting for it or a reccomended setting for it is absolutely bogus. It all depends on your video card memory and system memory and which one is causing your problems.

Like, if you pull up the task manager during a game of BF2 and you add up all the memory that each process uses in total. . . if you are close to your total memory, your problem is system memory. . .so you should decrease your aperture size for better performance. However, if you do this and you see that you have come nowhere near your total memory, it might help to increase your aperture size, especially if you have a videocard without so much memory.

I have mine set to the max (256) that my intel board allows because I have 2 Gigs of RAM (although, I also have 256 on my graphics card, so it may be unnecessary).

As with most hardware related things, there is not right thing to do across the board. It all depends on your system, what is your limiting component and what you need to do.
