    mic's

Since the microphone system is built into the game, why arn't people using them? I've only had a handful of times that an entire squad has used them, and damn does it make your team much more efficiant. Besides the little "headset" icon in the description of the server (which i think means you can use comm), is there any other way to tell if people are talking or not before loading up a game?

some ppl have mics but you have to enable voip ingame, also some ppl have it disabled because they dont want to hear some kids high pitched voice.

ok....i noticed some servers don't host the microphone or chattin in game. Then when I do talk sometimes the speaker lights up green then turns red with a crack n the middle...

That means it's working. The green icon appears to show you that you have the talk key depressed and are ready to transmit (yellow if you're an SL pressing 'V' to talk to the commander) and it turns red (with a crack) to show that you are indeed transmitting a voice signal.

From what I've been told, it's a glitch. Originally it was supposed to be: Green when you're pushing the transmit button, turns to red when you're talking, turns to red with a crack when you're over-modulated (have your mic gain up to high, or mic to close to mouth) but the coders ran into problems with the engine detecting over modulation, so they dropped that feature and just went with the two. So, the indicators are now just: pressing transmit/sending voice. However, for some reason, the icons that represent the two functions got messed up and we're left with green to indicate talk button depressed/ red with crack to indicate voice being transmitted. (whether it's over modulated or not)

However, I did run into one server where everything about VOIP seems to be working properly. Green indicator comes up, red with crack when talking, just like on every other VOIP enabled server... but nobody can hear anybody else. Very weird.

The crack meand you're talking really loud, turn down your VOiP transmit volume and ignore.

microphone does make the game really aweasome. it promotes squad movement, I remember the best game I ever had was in the demo with a squad we all had headset, it was really fun
