    Politics: Eryx instead of RPG-7?

Do you guys think that EA/Dice specifically avoided using the RPG-7 for the MEC Anti-Tank kit simply because of its real life widespread use against allied forces?

I do. Which is a shame since I think the RPG-7 would add a real defining bit of character to the MEC army. As it is, they're not very fleshed out.

I would have preferred the RPG. My guess is yeah, Iraq was too close to home and they didnt want to get into that.

Or maybe they thought it would be uneven that the USMC rocket could be guided and the MEC couldn't. This is the actual answer most likely.

Close, also it doesn't have the power of a Predator missle.

I agree. They wouldn't have left out a weapon simply because it has killed many allied forces. If that were the case the AK-47 would have never made it into the game...
It's most likely due to balancing issues...

I think its just because it would be a wee bit unfair if US got the Predator and MEC got and RPG-7, which would barely scratch an Abrams.

I think it is because they wanted to give each side a guided missile.

                  They should have an unlockable.

The rpg would be faster and hit 1/3 harder.

lol, if you see real live videos of firing a rpg, you see that it has a tail back movement, meaning it can go in any direction from 65ยบ angle where pointed at in long distances... and btw too much of a n00b cannon?

No, I don't think EA Games left out the RPG because of politics.

I think the reason why they left it out is because EA wanted the game to be as much different from Desert Combat as much as possible. That is why you don't see the A-10, MLRS, VSS, and all of the other goodies DC had. The RPG is just one of the weapons that distinguishes BF2 vs. DC.

Balancing issues would be needed since the RPG-7 would be just overpowering against infantry, whereas the Predator seems to only take out troops that it hits head on. Yeah, against a heavy tank like the M1A2 the RPG-7 is a spitwad. Still, it's more than enough to knock out a helo(not blow up entirely, but damage it to the point of crashing it) in one clean shot.

I agree with the above poster that it would make for a very good unlockable.

i think they left it out because an RPG-7 is just a ROCKET PROPELLED GRENADE, and Ernyx is an ANTI-TANK MISSLE

the RPG is for light infantry vechicles and infantry not armor.. search google they have lovely shots of what it does to M1A1 in iraq...

uh-huh right thats why i had a designated marksman from the marines tell me that it killed an abrams easily, one rocket from the RPG-7 hit and penetrated the top-secret armor, then punched a quarter sized hole in the cabin, killing the crew instantly... dust was all that was left

Old technolgy -- same reason we don't have T72s in the game.
