    Anti Tank Weirdness

Was playing on Fusche Pass a couple of days ago and I experienced some Anti Tank Weirdness.

Three times during the round I was run over by a boy racer. Once he was in a buggy, once in an APC and once in a Linebacker.

Each time he drove at me I would launch a Anti Tank rocket/missile at him and every time it passed straight through and detonated on the scenery behind.

The first time with the buggy I just thought I was unlucky, I mean the buggy has a lot of open space for the rocket/missile to pass through.

The second time with the apc he was reversing at me, as I had sidestepped him. I fired right at the big back door, the missile went straight through the apc and hit an abrams behind him????

With the linebacker it was a last minute shot just before I was flattened, that missile also passed straight through and impacted on one of the sheds behind the linebacker.

    Questions????????????????????????????????

Is there a minimum distance before your missile becomes real/solid?
Was it a fault with the game loading for that round?
Or was I just very very very unlucky

really really weird!!...I never had that before!!

    hax maybe?

the only weirdness that I had in BF2 is when I was playing Dragon Valley, one guy kept saying that he was blowing up the UAV and Scan at USMC base, and it kept respawning without any supply drops or any engineers...So I went to test it...and it was the same for me, I blew up both things, and after about 10 seconds they both reappeared....NO engineers, No Supplies

there's no min distance for a round to become solid in real life. no reason for that (min distance to become solid) to happen in game. my guess is a glitch ^^

Well I don't like to accuse people of Hacks in this game because certain things in this game are a bit buggy.

I did wonder at the time, as he never seemed to shoot at anyone, just run them over

        Still, whatever floats his boat.

It hasn't happened since, perhaps it was just one of those weird net/lag type things.

I've fired through the buggies before too - as unrealistic as it is to have a missle come wizzing by your head and not hurt you, are we sure our missles aren't just passing through the open tops of the vehicles?

If you recall, that was one of the "cool" things about BF2 when the pre-release videos were coming out -- the fact that open vehicles weren't actually solid like they were in BF1942. Remember the missle passing through the blackhawk's open doors? Could the same thing be happening to the buggies?

          Just a thought.

Hmm, I managed to fire a missile underneath a buggy once when I was laying down, but straight through an APC? Sounds like a latency issue perhaps?

I have seen this rocket passing through vehicle bug quite a bit. I guess it depends on how much you play AT as to how often you see it.
In general it seems it is shots where you are pretty close to the target where it occurs. In fact really I have only ever seen it happen on close in shots.
It happens on all vehicles and it is not just a matter of going through holes or gaps in a vehicle as I have seen it go right through the side of an APC and out the other side.

This is a known bug not a hack.

Well he/she was trying to run me down , so we were PRETTY close. I've never had it from a distance, just in this one round, 3x close up.

I play mainly support, but will switch to whatever we seem to need at the time.
on public servers it amazes me the number of players who will continue to spawn as their original kit (Sniper for instance) when the base is being raped by armour.
I have even been known to spawn as Spec ops and go get the arty if it has been a problem for our team. Usually no kills, but it helps the team (team...yeah right )

I have had it happen in the exact same circumstances actually as you describe. Its especially annoying because they end up running you over when you missle passes straight through them

I actually play as AT quite a lot. I find it a great class for being sneaky I actually play it almost like the sniper class as I move out of bass's and find nice sneaky places to hide on routes lots of vehicles take. Often between bases they are just not expecting to get whacked by an AT guy and even if you don't kill them you soften them up for wherever they are going to attack. There are some great ambush spots between the flags if you look around.

I get this too much when fighting hoovering attack helicopters especially the cobra(mi28???).
Id say every 2nd or 3rd shot goes straight through hte main body. Often when the heli is in movement and the missle is about to miss I hit the back rotor blade or the tail and that hits EVERY TIME.. no passing through there, just the main canopy seems to be screwed.. which sucks alot because every pilot needs to burn and die!! ( Read: Overpowered **** tbfh! )

One time I fired my SRAW into the back of a buggie, and somehow it went right through the top(just behind the cab), and then crashed somewhere about 200m beyond. Of course, I was instantly killed afterwards. What's wild is that when I died I got a camera view that showed the smoke trail; it went straight through the damn buggie. I wish I would have gotten a screeny of it, but I wasn't quick enough on the draw to do it.

Yup, I’ve had it happen, just no real pattern to take note of, other than they were all close up shots, like a buggy coming at me full speed. I figured it was just a lag thing… but it’s always cool to see that buggy go poof, & get three kills, instead of getting run over.

Yeah and the black hawks with the open doors..man I have to stop aiming for the middle when I take a side shot with my A-T rocket. I’ve had a bunch pass right through the open doors as I’m getting mowed down by the mini gun… what a waste of a shot and death.

                            You're not alone :)

This is one of the most annoying bugs, for me, since I love to play as AT.

In most cases, the missile goes 'through' an incoming vehicle. Less often I see it go through when I'm shooting from behind, but it happens.

Before, I thought it was just 'bad luck' and missile missed buggy or APC, but when it started happening regularly, I got certain this was not just bad luck.

I get a soldier with AT missile at far distances (love to get snipers w/ AT missile :)), and yet I miss vehicle that is close to me. Kind of strange...

But it only happens when vehicles are moving, so it might be network related bug (what server saw and what you saw didn't match ), or who knows what.

Saw that as well. Don't remember the map name (US carrier on the top right, US base at the top left - Chinese HQ at the bottom right), but I blew 3 artillery pieces, and by the time I was destroying 3rd one, 1st one was alive. I had supply box, so I kept on destroying, but no matter what I do artillery pieces would spawn within 10-15 seconds. Supply box was not close to any of the artillery pieces, and there were no engineers around.
