Sounds like a refreash issue when the game came out.
if you can't get in, use the rez bypass trick thats in the battlefield 2 short cut. depending on resolution, for now, just add +szx and +szy to the target line
example:
"C:\Program Files\EA GAMES\Battlefield 2\BF2.exe" +menu 1 +fullscreen 1 +szx 1280 +szy 1024
change the numbers to whatever resolution, say 1024 and 768. If you can get in, set the resolution to the resolution of the monitor and refresh rate, if its supported. If not, set it to the closest and then quit the game. go back into the target line and set it to your native resolution
