    Greetings

Special ops is a one man army to himself thats the way they work the lonewolf.

In world war 2 the S.A.S took out more enemy planes than the R.A.F.

If the game was played properly as I have rarely seen, a spec ops squad would be made up of 4 special ops a support and a medic go behind enemy lines and cause mayhem.

Special ops are not over played in any of the servers I played, all I ever see are medics assault and antitank.

Support definitly needs something done as they are basically useless.

I drive a tank when I can get one and ideal character for this is engineer u can fix ur own tank and any vehical near you points galor.

Anyhooo havent slept much of late this game is bad mmmkayy BAD I tells you!

I can understand why they decided not to add blood in the game it could seriously damage people. It would be getting too realistic, I think I have the symtoms of shellshock coming on.

    lol Anyhooo bye for now

x.) In-Vehicle chat (both typing and VOIP channel)

Please mention a whole new key for the voice chat here, in addition to existing voice chat options. 'b' for squad chat, 'v' for commander/sl chat and a new 'm' for voice chat with those in the same vehicle.

z.) Make infantry slightly tougher when it comes to being run over by vehicles (IE: Make it so that you can't tk a friendly trooper with the very corner of your tank while moving 5 mph).

Just make it so that it's relative to the speed of the vehicle. ie if a tank turns left and bumps you, then you only lose 5% of your health (ie funny bone hit), while a hummer going top speed still just kills someone. I've even had it where I was trying to place C4 on a hovering chopper, jumped up and touched the side of the chopper and it killed me!

i must wholeheartedly disagree. regardless of what the SAS did in ww2, this is a team game, and the focus should be on teamwork. for teamwork to happen, all players involved should have weaknesses that other players can cover. in bf2, this is entirely the case, with the one exception of the spec ops class. while i agree, it is for lonewolfers, it makes sense that there would be more of a penalty in the players effectiveness for choosing this class. decreasing their effectiveness against infantry is, in my mind, a must, and increasing the time it takes to deploy c4 can only help. AT should be the primary anti-armor class, and assault the primary anti-infantry. spec ops is, atm, arguably better than both these classes at thier intended roles.

im not asking for a complete nerfing, just a mild toning down, so that assault is CLEARLY superior in infantry battles and anti tank is CLEARLY superior for use against armor.

              xxThe_Dice_manxx,

First of all, I gather that you like playing Spec Ops, correct? If so, you must acknowledge that you might be a little biased when it comes to figuring out possible tweaks for the class. Obviously, you'd rather see them more powerful than less.

The problem with the 'one man army' class is that people will select it over any other 'balanced' class, simply because it is a 'one man army'. They won't use it for what Spec Ops is meant for, namely, infiltration, but they'll use it for anything and everything they wish. The class becomes a flavorless jack-of-all-trades, because everyone who simply wants to kill a lot (IE: Not teamplayers) will use it to rack up a ton of combat points.

There are several solutions to this. First, is to limit the number of players who can choose spec ops. Problem with this is, the same combat-happy non-team-players will choose the Spec Ops and run around just like they did before. Those who honestly want to use the Spec Ops class to fulfill the intended role of Spec Ops will usually be left out in the cold, because right now, they're in the minority of Spec Ops players (or so it seems to me...often times as a Commander I'll see many people on my team killed by Spec Ops weaponry and C4, yet my commanding gear remains completely unmolested).

The other option is to tone the class down. As mentioned above, Assault class is for anti-infantry, anti-tank should be for anti-tank. As is, the Spec Ops class can give BOTH of these classes a run for their money at their specific roles on the battlefield. That's not right.

So, the solution is to tone down the needless excesses of the class. Make it so the class is good at what it is meant for, namely Spec Ops. Infiltration. Destruction. Sneaking around. Wreaking Havoc and disappearing. Etc. Not charging after tanks and gunning down any infantryman they see from almost any distance.

I would be willing to bet that when I've been in a tank, I've been blown up by C4 twice as much as I've been blown up by the Anti-tank rockets.

As is, the class has got to give up something, because simply put, it's too good at too many things. That's why it's overplayed.

Also, I forgot to mention that Spec Ops forces are not supposed to be one man armies for another reason.

If the class was meant to be equipped to deal with any threat in almost any situation, then other classes would be equipped similarly.

As is, if my suggestions were implimented, the class would still be able to handle many threats, IN CERTAIN SITUATIONS.

In other situations, the class would have to resort to other abilities, like stealth.

Just because he's a lone wolf doesn't mean that he should be able to kill everything on the battlefield. He should be able to handle any situation that he might encounter, sure, but not automatically by typical FPS shoot-first-ask-questions-later tactics.

Playing Spec Ops should require that the player intelligently judge when and where he is able to strike. Right now, the limit of class intelligence is usually, a.) Shoot it, if that doesn't work, b.) C4 it. That works for pretty much any target or situation.

I'm simply suggesting that a Spec Ops player should be able to be off on his own, but he should have to pick his battles wisely if he wants to survive. As is, he can go into almost any battle now and stand a good chance of winning. The situations where he knows he can't win, then, are situations where he'd make use of other abilities of the class, namely in this case, camo, invisibility to radar (which is a class feature, all too often as a commander have I been snuck up on by a Spec Ops player) and the ability to quietly eliminate pursuit.

Wouldn't it be cooler if, as a Spec Ops player, you infiltrated your way into the enemy backfield, stealthily avoiding enemy vehicles and players, to destroy the commander's assets. Then, you stalk around the base, eliminating players from the shadows, and then fading back into the background just as you stir up the opposition.

As they stalk out into the fields looking for you, often times meters from you without noticing you lying there, stock still in the grass, you set up ambushes, becoming the hunter. Waiting for one of them to stalk by, you quietly rise to your feet and come up behind him and knife him in the back. His buddy, not even knowing that his friend is dead, would realize all too late as you put half a dozen silenced rounds into his back.

From there, you melt back into the woods, and wait for them to come at you again, perhaps getting re-supplied by your commander, and laying C4 as a trap, further annoying and distracting your foes (one thing I know about people, if you get them, they'll make it a point to come back and get you). Hell, if you're sneaky, you could even call down the supplies in an obvious place and then plant a ton of C4 on it, so when the huns are out looking for you and find your supplies, you blow them to hell again. Like moths to a flame.

Hell, if you're good, you may even draw the enemy commander into pursuit, force him to use a UAV to hunt you down, and generally abandon his team, giving your team and your commander several minutes of unfocused and unsupported enemies to prey upon.

That's how Spec Ops should play, not some omni-useful Anti-tank/Assault Hybrid. And you don't need an accurate rifle or shot-put instant C4 to do any of that.

                  Greetings

You litterally discribed me in the last post lol.

When I do nothing but try to get to the enemy base and destroy as mush as possible then kill as much as possible on the way out and do it over and over again til end of round.

But its a fruitless way to play u get nadda points for the effort, this is why I look forward to the patch which apparently spec ops will get rewarded for destroying artil etc.

Oh and you get no recognition for your efforts by the team! how many team members would I have saved if I blew the commanders equipment 10 times in one round?

Ive also been accused of having a c4 hack because I sat by the road in the bushes with c4 on the road and blew up the same dude 5 times and various other enemies as they passed by in vehicals.

Another annoyance is the commanders reluctance to supply spec ops behind enemy lines when more c4 is required to blow stuff up, maybe the commanders I get are tards or something?

Anyhoooo I vote for the scan function to be removed from the commanders options as the uva is plenty or remove the uva and keep the scan whatever ones enough.

Well, one of the things about a lone wolf class like the Spec Ops (as I envision it) is that they don't get all the recognition.

They're not the glory hog pilots, or the banzai tankers, or the choppers.

They're in a class along with snipers, in that their teamplay is something that can't be defined and rewarded by points. Their teamplay is done in a way that their team is unaware of.

If a sniper shoots someone sneaking up on a teammate, will that teammate even know or acknowledge they were in danger? Probably not.

If a sniper and an spec ops sneak behind enemy lines (perhaps with a support guy), and spend the entire game blowing up commander assets, assassinating the commander, picking off pilots, and in general causing havoc and distraction at the enemy base, their team stands a really good chance of winning, because their enemies would not be able to get organized. An entire enemy team could be kept off guard by 2-3 guys, if they're good.

Isn't that a reward in and of itself?
