Here's the lowdown:
On January 1st, 2000, twenty Soviet armored divisions based in East Germany poured across the border into West Germany racing through the Fulda Gap. Simultaneously, throughout the globe, armed forces of communist countries attacked their unsuspecting neighbors. World War III has started.
Time Rift Tournament is set in an alternate reality that thankfully did not come true. Utilizing "Battlefield 2" game from EA Games and Digital Illusions as well as our own realism-based mod, we will fight the battles that never came to pass and contemplate what might have been.
What if the Cold War never ended? What if communism did not collapse? What if it spread and took hold throughout the world? What if the West got it wrong?
Our Scenario explains how this could have happened and you the player will write the ultimate outcome of the War.
Who will win WWIII? It's your call.
The Tournament stresses teamwork above all other considerations. When you join TRT you will be a part of a team of players dedicated to helping their side win WWIII. During weekdays, playing a part of a soldier in a military force with a pre-assigned specialty, you will practice with your division, learning skills and tactics necessary for success in battles to come. Those battles will be fought on Saturdays, and will take place on at least two maps. We will consider expanding the schedule as new members join up and new maps are introduced.
TRT will use its own modification of BF2. Please note the following: TRT will stress realism over standard BF2 game style. If you are a fan of Forgotten Hope mod, Experience WWII, Silent Heroes or Desert Combat Realism mod, this is the place for you. Arcade style play will only happen until Campaign One kickoff. To be clear: you are not joining a Battlefield 2 tournament per se: you are joining a tournament which will use a modified version of BF2.
