Can't even open BF2 "illegal operation"

    Hi all,

Hoping you can help me to get this game working, been waiting for my order to arrive for a week now and finally when I get it, I can't even play it. Very depressing.

Here is an image of the error I get when I double click BF2 to open the game.

I have tried re-installing already then patched it to latest version and got the same error. It did work breifly, then my pc froze up and I had to restart my pc and ever since then it hasn't worked!!!!

I hope you can help me!,
    Thanks alot,
    Colin.

      1.8Ghz
      1gig ram
      256mb radeon 9600XT
      2mb broadband.

I meet all the requirements. The demo ran fine and when the full version did run for about 10 minutes it worked fine, no lag or anything.

        try format your pc,

That worked for most of my friends with specs a little lower and higher than yours.

        Hope it helps!

It does sound like Windows has a few issues. Have you tried updating your drivers and also Direct X 9c?

Have you a System Restore point somewhere near when you first installed the demo ? , if so try Restoring back to that point . Thats where I would start mate

if its intermittent then ask yourself what was running at the time it was working, or rather what services where not running, if worked earlier which is great, now you have just gotta isolate the reason it worked,

Format and keep an eye on what u install and its Startup settings ( msconfig via the Start/Run cmd , extreme solution but hey , a clean install will help tidy everything up and maybe speed ya sys up too.
