BF2 Server with router?

Can I start a BF2 server if I'm running my ethernet through a router? Could I also have a teamspeak server through my router?

Yes, if you have the bandwidth. Its just a matter of setting up the proper port forwarding.

alright, i have port forwarded a while ago. I have a Linksys 4 port wired router. What do I do to set it up for BF2/teamspeak.

Excellent the same router I have...

Login to your Router's configuration panel. Click on "Applications and Gaming".

Fill in the Application name, the port that it requires to be open (usually found in the readme of the program, or in a FAQ on it's website). For the IP you need to enter the internal IP of the given server (192.168.1.XXX) so the router knows where to send those requests.

Hit Save Settings, and you should be good to go.

so when people come to connect to me do they type in 192.168.1.102:XXXXX. Whatever port I opened, I make that the port the other users have to connect to?

Using this IP doesnt realy make sense because all linksys routers will use 192.168.1.10X usually, 100, 101, 102, 103 for a 4 port router.


Please calrify if im misunderstanding something.

no, when they connect to you they will need your Internet IP not your local network IP address.

thought so. You know where I can find that. All the programs i've used only give me router IP.

could i use IPCONFIG.

I can't really check now because im at work.

click on the stats button in your routers config screen, there is your External IP address.
