Hello, Problems right after installing BF2

Hello, I just got this game for my computer, and was really siked about playing it. I finished installing it, and I restarted my comp. I click the shortcut and a black screen comes up, and then it just takes me back to my home screen with the shortcuts. It did the same thing when I clicked online play also.

So I ran the electronic arts easy info. I got 2 "x" marks, 1 on System Memory, and another on Display Memory.

    System memory-
    My System(256.0)
    GameRequirments(512.0)

    Display memory-
    My System(64.0)
    GameRequirments(128.0)

Also, I got "I" marks next to Display Device, Display Driver, and Sound Driver. That means the combatibility is unkown.

    Display Device-NVIDIA GeForce4 Ti 4200
    Display Driver-6.14.10.7730
    Sound Driver-5.12.01.124

    Everything else has check marks.

I dont know alot about computers, so please tell me what I have to do. I cant wait to play this game!

The Ti series cards are not supporetd by BF2, you need to upgrade. Best bang for you buck right now is a 6600GT.

Yes Best Buy should have them, however I would recommend online as:

        #1 - Its cheaper

        #2- It comes to you

#3- I, along with milions, have never had a problem. Newegg.com is one of the biggest online computer retails around, and their service is excellent. I almost never hear about someone who has had a bad experience with them.

But if you must, you need to go to Best Buy and ask them for an Nvidia 6600GT AGP card.

Is that all I would need in order for it to work? What else do I need to do so that it is smooth and not laggy when it works?
          Thanks for your help!

You will need more RAM, atleast 512. However I would recommend you get 1GB (2x512). And replace your current chip with the two new ones (as mixing memory can cause problems).

                  1GB of Memoery (2 x 512 sticks) and a 6600GT from www.newegg.com

Should run on Medium/High mix without lag.

The first card (PNY) has the AGP interface (or how it connects to your motherboard) which is what you need.

The second card (BFG) uses PCI-Express which is a new technology that replaces AGP slots in newer computers.

And as for the memory, no, what you will want is this:

I didn't see anything simular to this at Bestbuy, I only saw single modules.

Go Newegg, trust me on this one, you won't be disappointed.

                            Goto:
The latest sports news headlines across MLB, NBA, NHL, NFL, Tennis, Golf, F1 and Football.

Grab the 77.76 drivers, but do not install them yet.

Goto Add/Remove programs in your control panel. Remove your ATI display drivers.

Next run DriverCleaner 3 (www.drivercleaner.net) per his instructions.

After you have run DC3, install the 77.76 drivers you got from Nvidia.
