Ok, I just downloaded the 1.02 patch and it said Patching Failed. I searched "Patching Failed" on the totalbf2.com search engine thing and I am a mega noob at this stuff so I have no clue what these people were talking about, can someone help me?

Try uninstalling the game completely and going through the registry manually, and deleting all references to BF2 (Battlefield 2, do a search in regedit). The patch may have partially installed and failed, and is blocking any further attempts.

Defrag your HD before you install again. Also, make sure you restart between installing and patching...Originally posted by Shaw08178110Make sure you have 2 gigs free on your hardrive, patch takes a lot of space =).

so if i only delete the stuff related to bf2 in the registry key stuff it wont screw up anything?

It won`t, as long as you`re deleting bf2 related keys. As stated before, it`s better to completely remove everything relating to the game so they won`t interfere with your next installation.

Just search your registry with the built in search option and type in "Battlefield 2" and go through it all, and then type in BF2. But look at each entry (it should take you to it) and make sure it is correctly identifying the files.
