theres nothing 'wrong' w/ it. but ppl generally dont like it and will leave the server. then autobalance kicks in and suddenly you find yourself being shot at by all your base rapeing buddies.

Because of the way this game is set up I don't think there is any legitmate base camping. Most of the time the main base with the uncapturable flag is also the main airfield & the home of the enemies commander's assets. It is a legitmate strategy to destroy the items that spawn on the airfield (ie jets, choppers, & at times the hordes of wanna be pilots that camp in that base, as well as the commander's assets).

It pisses people off because then they are not allowed to take off to freely chopper whore and they actually have to play a little ground defense. It is highly effective as long as the rest of your team is competent enough to capture flags whiles you are in the base killing all the cry baby pilots.

I think it's always ok to base rape any base any time you want under any conditions you want. Anyone who says otherwise is a crybaby and should go play the Sims 2 instead of BF2.
