Base Campers!!

I don't like it when people do that. In a lot of servers it is prohibited I believe. In my opinion it also depends on the number of people doing it. A while ago a sniper camped near our airfield popping everybody out of their planes. While it is frustrating, it took me two deaths to find out where he was hiding, and I killed him. So in this situation, it's not fun but I can live with it...When there's like, a whole squad baseraping it's a lot less fun since you can't even spawn properly then.

Just to clarify - we're talking about maps where you cannot take certain caps, not ones where the whole map can be won, leaving no spawn points for the opposition. Yes? If so...

I think it all depends on the server. Some servers don't allow "base-camping", but the exact rules are always vague...if I can't kill at their base, where does the killzone actually begin? Some people say they wait at the first capable cap and defend there. The server rules are the important thing - not some unhappy idiot who uses "gay" as an insult.

As far as I am concerned every part of the map is a killzone, unless I am told otherwise by the server/admins. I never feel badly about an enemy sitting on the US carrier giving my team grief. I consider it a valid tactic, as that one player is keeping many more enemies occupied. Plus, he managed to get there in the first place. Kudos to you soldier.

although i HAAAAAAAAAAAAAAte getting killed when i spawn at ANY base, especially the "non-takable types"
or at our airfields WAAAAAAAAAAAAy out back
I really admire the guy doing the killing ! ! !
i make it my personal challange to find the guy and kill him

cannot tell you how many times i have found guys even swimming out to a carrier to snipe guys!

My feeling is that there isn't any such thing as base camping in BF2. The game has evolved to a point where everything if fair game. Look at it this way, if you allowed them to load up a chopper and take off, next thing you know they're capping your flags like crazy.

No to mention, you were one guy and you weren't in a vehicle -- no matter how good you are, you're not that much of a threat to a whole team. And correct me if I'm wrong, but there is a second spawn below decks.

sure if the us only has the carrier left on that map me and a couple teamates will proceed to bring the AA vechs up and fire away with supplies from the nice commander (who will most likely be artillerying the carrier anyway). if you lose all the points its your fault and you deserved to get camped.

Campers are stat padders and nothing more, going for the easy kills. At the mosque in Mastabur City, I fixed one by spawning prone with guns a blazin'.

i do it all the time, and i dont care if you whine about it, if you dont lke me base camping, then spawn somewhere else, ohh wait you cant, cause we have all the available flags, then you better find a way to take some.

i'm playing as a sniper....so i do it to...make the easy kill like you said. Try to make an snip kill while running true the fields

In Karkland, there is usually people who just drive down in the APC and start spawn camping (spawn camping IMO is, when you dont even do an effort in trying to cap the flag, but just sit there, in a vehicle, for instance, and killing ppl when they spawn) - which is quite lame. If you can cap the flag, you should try and move in and cap it. Specially if your in a tank or APC. And dont come with the BS talk about the first flag in Karkland cannot be capped in a vehicle, cuz it can!

Very true, it is extremely lame - but this thread is specifically about "base-camping" on the "uncappable base cap" maps, isn't it? :)

i do not believe base raping is right when it is an uncapturable flag that is just wrong and lame...sure a flag you can capture cos u need to capture it but not when the last safe haven and only flag is the uncalturable one...base raping is for noobs...and very undesirable people...i commend all server admins who ban base rapers...and if u r a base raper take some of the extreme in game flaming in and stop being a prat...

As long as you arent mowing them down in a vehicle, I dont see the problem, its not like they cant shoot you back. Unless you know exactly where people spawn and are shooting that area on purpose.
