I no computer expert either, but i think that the High pings of a player can slow the others down in only a certain part of the map (when the guy is in sight). for exemple, 2 days ago i was battling against other guys in my tournament, and i am a jet pilot, so i get to go a bit everywhere. well, when i got over a flag that a guy (witha 350 ping) was supposed to attack, i got a huge load of lag. i often crashed while i was bombing becaus eof that. however, i didnt have any lag elsewhere, even over flags with a lot of armor and people in it.
"he's the one causing all the lag! lets lynch him"

Isn't not BF2 a server side (asynchronous) game?
Therefore, you move, you send the data to the server, then the server sends the data to everybody else. If you shoot somebody, your shot is sent to the server, if the server detects it as a hit, it returns that you have hit.
If you see somebody, and shoot them on a server side game, the only thing that is making you lag is your connection to the server.
In synchronous games, where all clients must know the exact game state, a single "lagger" will slow down the game for everyone, since the server has to wait for the client to get every communication packet. However, many online games use an asynchronous communication model.Comment
