Opinions on M203 and GP-30.

It isnt a noob weapon by default simply because it shoots out nades. Its a noob weapon because 95% of the time people use it in a noob way i.e. turning corners and doing the quake jump nade tactic, not even using normal bullet firing mode, etc. I cant even tell you how many times I've picked up an assault kit and found it totally out of nades but totally full ammo clips. If its possible with BF2 engine they should definetely make it like America's Army, thats the only way the nade launchers can be used properly. These ****ing noobs that use the nade launcher in such a lame way are lucky im not a server admin, I would simply kick and ban all of them, keep out the filth.

i dont see why people call it a noob cannon or complain about i. its a very useful weapon that is a weapon in game like every other weapon. what i would really like to see put into play is the insane bunny hopin and being able to fire the weapon while bunny hoping and from the chute.

I think that all they have to do is limit it to two grenades at spawn. That way they have enough for actual assualts but not enough to spam it on every little thing they come across.

Im sure they'll never be removed from the game, but the way people plop one at your feet at point blank range in under a second of seeing you, and not taking any damage themselves makes me want to put my foot through my monitor.

The more I play, the more complaints I see about this very issue.

Its really getting on peoples nerves. I hate it as much as the next peep, but it is part of the weapon, so I guess I accept it. I dont play assault class, so I dont use them. I think this element will be tweaked in near-future patches.

i remember when the first video of bf2 came out it was that city map where the f15 dropped a bomb on the tank cant remember the name, i remmeber seein an assault guy use ironsites when heshot the 203 not these crappy yellow crosshairs

Been playing a lot of assault class lately, and im getting more kills now than ever before... And it's not because of the grenade launcher, as I barley use the thing... Only use the GL to smoke out enemies from unreachable places...

I dont have anything against the gun, i just hate it when people are standing next to you and they feel the need to use it and blow themselves up aswell. Its as if they cant aim with the normal gun ... pfft, noobs :p

Grow up guys. Its put in the game, and it has its uses. Just give it a set length of time before it arms, give it splash damage, and no more blasting at 1m.

Pretty much. By then, it'll cease to be a noob weapon. Anyone, and I do mean anyone can grab the 203 and go spamming on Karkand without even trying to use the rifle. I rarely use the 203, and when I do, it's either because:

A - There's a vehicle nearby.
B - I'm all out of ammo loaded in the pistol and rifle.
C - Close group of targets at a medium distance.

A minimum arming distance is necessary to avoid this.

Agrees with the AA statements ..... there should be a minimum range on the 203.

The 203 takes skill to use properly i.e. at distance. I HATE being killed by a 203 noob who just shoots at the floor 2 ft away.

Agreed, we have to remove the "quake" nade launcher players. M203s are NOT fired in the way that they're being used in BF2...they need a stable firing platform and ironsight usage. No more bunny hopping, nade firing.
