DLA or not DLA?

Okay...

I have a feeling I just burnt another 62 bucks on BF2....

WHAT ON EARTH is DLA? I right clicked on my DVD drive (R/RW) and it said USE DLA. I had 2 drives showing when I had one...Anyway..

I was having trouble reading my BF2 disk last week. I noticed a huge scratch...after trying to get it to run, unsuccessfully I bought another copy. Only to realize the new copy didn't run. When I selected USE DLA for the alternate device (showing only) my original copy worked. So now I have 2 copies...MO' Fo'.

I'm off to give'er a try with my new catalyst drivers.

Kills me to think this could of gone towards a new Gfx card.

Sounds like something got FUBAR'd. Did you try running Anti-virus, spyware, adware, etc? If you did, and this still happens....my advice is to re-format.

I haven't. I dunno what it could be...everything else works fine.

Like I said...in explorer...I right click on my DVD drives and I have the usual options...one being use DLA...I think that's what was interferring with reading my dvd...despite the "minor" scratch...there was nothing wrong...now with the scratch and the DLA selected on the "mirrored" drive... she works...I guess I should google...duh...

DLA enables direct read/write drive letter access to your CD/DVD. Simply put, your DVD will act as a floppy / hdd, allowing you to store files on DVD's without having to burn it to the disk.


Make sure you have the correct drivers installed for that device. Uninstall any other devices you do not have present on your system and reboot.

Also, if you have alcohol installed or daemon tools, they will display virtual drives on your system.
