LOL, I love it, the Logitechs are over rated? The Diamondbacks are seriously overrated. First off I have had 3...no wait 4 logitech mice, and all of them still work to this day, one of them is seriously 8 years old (an old trackball mouse). I have the MX310, and it more then does me good in-game, never a hiccup of a missed movement.

im not saying its mechanically bad im saying its ergonomically bad. Its huge, bulky, and the "fit to your palm" design makes your hand glued in one position to the mouse.

something you should be warned about with the 1000 model is that if you lift up the mouse it will have a period of lag where it has to repick up the laser light which is usually about a half a second to a second. Doesnt sound like much but in the heat of battle every little bit counts. So if you pick up the mouse a lot like I do, you dont want to get that one =)

I read about this and despite bought the mouse. I have actually tried to replicate this. I could pick the mouse up walk around my room with it then sit back down and instantly use it with no delay whatsoever.

lol no man, he is talkimn about when you try to do a 180 in FPS games and when you lift up your mouse and try to put it back down INSTANTLY it goes all out of wack. there was a video of a guy showing this. Try constanly moving your mouse up and down lifting it at the end (like if yo uwere on a swing)

I've had absolutly no problems playing bf2, its absolutly perfect so...

I can do whatever I like and its 100% fine.

I got one from my uncle for christmas. I love it. Its responsive, comfterable and very easy to use. I give it 9/10 stars. I dont like the color.

I have one also and love it. BTW it matches my motif perfectly. :laugh: That is NOT why I bought it though. Very responsive and fits my hand perfectly.

I hear ppl keep saying that they like their MX1000, great for them but the fact remains that a MX1000 will never be as good as a corded.

For a long time the thing that has limited mouse innovations/improvements is the fact that USB mice on can do 125Hz=8ms sample rate, then a fix was found where you could alter the usbport.sys to increase the sample rate to 250, 500 or even 1000Hz = 2,4 and 1ms meaning that you get better responsiveness and smooth handling, but it only works on corded USB, wireless are stuck at 125Hz no matter what. No overhyped MX1000 'laser' mouse is going to change that, it is just new coating for same kind of hardware.

Note that he mentions the USB fix, the guy RaZieL later made the fix that is now used to get the better sample rates through edits of usbport.sys, so he know a little about what he is talking about.

When choosing Razer Diamonback or MX518 it is more how you like to hold the mouse, not so much specs because they are similar, seeing that Logitech took all the features from Diamondback and put it onto their MX510 design and made MX518.

Right now I would hold off, with getting a new one and wait for the Razer Copperhead. It should have 2000 DPI laser precision, 1000Hz=1ms polling rate, 7 programmalble buttons that can be replaced if needed and 3 weights to adjust to your needs.
Lets see how Logitech responds to that, and if they are going to create a new mouse or just copy/paste like the MX518. :p

i like the logitech, but it all comes down to what feel you like. Razers have a traditional mouse feel whereas logitechs is very ergonomical(sp) and i like them because of that. Try both then decide.

i actually picked up the MX518 since i just got a $15 gift card in the mail from compusa. after using it over the weekend (compared to my old mx700 wireless mouse) all i can say is that it is fantastic. the mouse itself is light - weighs almost nothing, and the ergonomics are perfect for me. the on-the-fly sensitivity adjusting is a very nice feature to have, i dont know if i could go back to my old mouse after using this. the fact that its corded is meaningless as far as 'comfort' is concerned. i feel no drag on the mouse because of the cable, etc. and the response is 'right there'. coupled with my S&S Steel mousepad this setup is just amazing in terms of comfort and response/playability. ...just my 2 cents.

Hmmm, mouse glued to my hand. THATs why I love my 1000. It really is part of my hand.

Their is a reason why everyone and their brother have purchased a Logitec MX series mouse. They are all SUPERB pointing devices.

MX 1000's are fine. I use a dying MX-700 and I still kick people's asses. That 1000 I used never had a problem when I used it and that lifting problem seems BS from what i've seen. I want a MX-518...but i'm a person that doesnt like installing mouse drivers. How are those drivers?

Best mousing recommendation: go to a store and feel the mouse. then ask your friends if they have it and see if you can try them out. I tried the 1000 and I love it, but I told myself I need a corded mouse next soo....
