also guys who even never go to the front can become officer, by doing other important stuf to the army

exactly. all officers graduate as a 2nd Lt., and not all 2nd Lts are assigned to be platoon leaders and such, and very many are rear echelon personnel who will never encounter combat first-hand.

some ppl have the misconception that u start out at private and work your way up to general...and that is NOT the case.

Anyhow, make Captain the top rank. If you're so concerned about having a '50:1' ratio, do you really think the average game is going to have 32 Captains running around? I highly doubt it.

...what did i just say. no, they canNOT. the only reason they would be able to is if they got a battlefield commission (like 1st Sgt. Carwood Lipton from Band of Brothers) and they became an officer. but under normal circumstances, enlisted men will stay enlisted men.

So what is it? How about meritorious boards? What about MECEP? There's plenty of ways for an enlisted men to become officers. My old CO at 12th Marines made it to LCpl before he rose the officer ranks to Colonel. One of my platoon commanders was a Sergeant before he was commissioned. Infact I had a LCpl who had a Masters Degree, so I sent him to OCS and he was successfully commissioned.

Some of these programs will put them through college and make them commit to a 4 year commission.

Some people (with a degree) just want to sign up for 4 so it looks good on their resumes. Some want to have it for political experience. Some want to serve, but don't want that much responsibility. And a few are just plain stupid! :laugh:

Seriously, why would they have generals? So people can sit in a air conditioned room and not know whats happening on the battlefield? That would not hold true to the Battlefield franshize. SMOMC is the highest rank someone can achieve and still be in the thick of battle.

Thats total bs, no offense, Captain is the highest onfield rank and that is a fact, because special ops is made up of officers ranging from LT-Capt... and then enlisted. so that is defiantly not true.

My opinion on the ranking system

I think EA chose to make the ranking system this way to be quasi realistic.
in the sence that only a few players worldwide will ever make it to the top.
The rest will stop somewhere allong the likes of lance corp or corp and start playing CS:S again :laugh:
If you look at the top players at this moment (50000 points), non of them have medals yet..... i mean these guys are online 24/7 for 1 and a half month now.
Only a few players will EVER get medals , like the HIGH ranks.

Pesonaly i don't agree with the EA way of thinking...
I don't care about the worlds best players , i play for ME and ME alone.
So i want the gratification of becoming a high rank in a acceptible amount of time... BECAUSE I PAYED FOR IT.
video games are made for your pleasure, the make you feel like youre the man.
Thats the point of playing them.
Thats why i think its okay if in a year everyones a luitenant and moves up quickly.
it's a game for the many, so the many should also be able to have the rank up experience, who cares if those 24/7 freaks have the highest rank in 2 months, are they the measure?, its about when normal players rank up.

In short:
The ranking system should contain more ranks (2lt lt mjr), and you should move up faster. Nobodys gonna play this game in 1 and a half year so adapt the ranking system accordingly instead of focusing on the top players and what THEY could max out on in terms of score.
