    Rank structure ?

What the hell??? i mean how come sergeant major of the corps is the highest rank in the game? is it trying to say that the whole of the united states marine corps is commanded by a sergeant major which isnt even an officer position. 2nd lieutenant is the lowest officer rank if im correct.sergeant major is about 5 ranks below it!And why is it the usmc not mec or chinese because im pretty sure that the highest rank in their military. and i thought it said when the bf2 website first started it said we could go all they way to general.if anyone from ea/dice is reading would it be possible to answer this, im just a bit confused with it

Ranks in BF2 are only enlisted ranks of the USMC. Which means SMOMC is the highest rank. I'm not sure about Generals, maybe EA took it out last minute or maybe they're adding it in the expansion. Who knows.

I can garentee they did it to allow room for expansion in the expansion - i'm sure they said it will include new ranks in there press release.

Well... in the Air Force.. our officers do most of the "fighting"

            :)

we do deploy our Security Forces, but a majority of the time they are guarding US assets so our officers can go out and blow **** up :)

              correction then...

on the GROUND, most of the fighting is done by enlisted personell, not officers.

Seriously, why would they have generals? So people can sit in a air conditioned room and not know whats happening on the battlefield? That would not hold true to the Battlefield franshize. SMOMC is the highest rank someone can achieve and still be in the thick of battle.

Alot of the time a Lt is required to be fitter, smarter and a better leader than a soldier, officers have alot of responsibility on their hands and alot of the lower rank officers do just as much fighting, their job is generally alot harder too.

and even then, in RL the SMOMC is techincally a desk-job in the pentagon. but as someone mentioned before...most officers above the rank of Captain don't do the ground fighting except in rare occasions (ie. when Lt. Col. Hal Moore led his men in the battle that was portrayed in We Were Soldiers).

                        that's what im saying

another way to look at it. if you send in even Two Companies of men into battle, that's Two Captains, Four Lieutenants, and the rest are enlisted. and the rest = 250-300 men easily...so that's a 50:1 ratio, enlisted to officer.

i'm not saying officers DONT fight, but there are more enlisted men doing more of the fighting than the officers. refer to my above post about this.

                            Thats true :)
Most of the enlisted do the fighting

The enlisted corps is the backbone of any military structure. Just ask any good officer.

Even then the only officers out there actually in the heat of it most of the time is the field grade officers. Whereas the company grade officers basically make the decisions on who goes where, what targets are priority, who to send. etc etc

Bzzt. You are forgetting Pararescue and CC. AF Special Ops rules.
