How long do mines last when you die

So this morning I'm playing Fu She Pass, I'm playing special ops and I'm defending the industrial plant on the north side of the river. I know there is a Chinese sniper in the area and I find him holed up in the little building that overlooks the flag. I take him out from a distance and proceed to run into the building to plant C4 in case he wants to take up the same position when he respawns.

As luck would have it, he's set a claymore in the front door and it kills me. I respawn on the back side of the building and attempt to go into that door -- bam, his second claymore gets me. These are the claymores he set before I killed him -- he's not back in the area.

So it got me to wondering, just how long are mines active when you die. I know they hang around for some time, but I had assumed that they disappear when you respawn (i.e. 15 they remain for 15 seconds after you die). In this case, though, the second claymore was still active at least 45 seconds after I had killed him.

    Anybody know for certain?

I know what you mean, that's always bugged me going back to BF42 days.
I finally got a guy the other day who had killed me right when I threw a grenade in his direction, but it's only happened once.

Not to mention that I find the grenades to be greatly underpowered anyway.

I find that my grenades do go off. As for the mines, I know they last at least 1 minuet. I was in a server last night, we were zipping around in a buggy, we saw a tank and the driver hopped out and mined the road, the tank killed us. We all respawned together and hopped in another buggy and zipped back to the same area and got blown up by the mines he laid earlier. LOL. He got hit with 2 TK's LMAO. (We all forgave)

There was about a minuet to a minuet and a half gap between laying them and when we hit them.

The best idea is to try it out. Join a map, lay a mine, throw a nade, just on nade, respawn and watch mine with stop watch :)

last night i noticed that as soon as i died, my mines, c4, claymores, etc were gone.

i seem to remember them staying before. official word on this would be great.

Yeah I remember shooting someone who was loitering around some vehicles. Having killed him and feeling proud of myself I hopped in one of the aforementioned vehicles and hit one of his mines :@

Last time I played as engineer I laid plenty of mines and they were there all round, so maybe they last forever?

mines and c4 will last as long as your kit does. if it stays on the ground and fades away, so does your mines and c4. if somebody picks it up, they stay. barring that 5mine/c4 rule or however that works.

              dunno about medkits though.

yeah, its only happened to me once, i threw a nade and saw it go towards the guy, then i get the "you were killed by so and so" and "you killed so and so" SOF 2 was really good about that.

I think the nades are overpowered, you can get 3 kills per nade if you chuck them in a crowded area

If you stick with the kit and respawn, your mines/claymores stay as long as you do.

They're like a FIFO buffer after you respawn, say you left 2 claymores out, if you respawn and drop a new claymore, the oldest claymore disappears.

Be fun if they didn't, lol. I can see suiciding 10 times and putting up a nasty wall of 20 claymores, lol.

So, as far as I'm concerned, you should kill everyone in the area. From what I recall, generally accepted lethal range on a frag grenade is about 30 yards.

Of course, I'm a realism nut.

From what I can figure out is they last until you plant over your limit, ie 5 mines 5 c4 2 claymore. A few days ago I was spec ops heading to destroy the enemy commander's assets. I planted 2 and then luckly (atleast I thought it was luck) I found a supply create. Without blowing the 2 c4 charges I planted I restocked and got 2 more bring me back to the usual 5. I planted those 5 c4s then blew them all only to find out that the first 2 I planted disappeared and didn't blow anything up. Its a good thing about the limit because if there wasn't one a engineer could plant mines over the entire map.

yeah, you can only plant 5 mines max. however last night i was engineer and laid down all of my mines on a road, however i got sniped and changed class as sniper to take him out, and even after i respawned ALL of my mines where still active and i was still getting kills from the mines when enemy ran over them...interesting!
