voice recognition? your opinions...

hey ya'll... i juss had this idea, hadda register to get it out ..lol..anyways
in single player... "alpha squad, go" would tirgger the command "go go go" ya know....anyways...dont flame me for this... i think it would be a great idea... and it is possible with work... but yeah... for people Interested in the idea... whats ur opinion? would u think it would be cool?... how would you have it?

good in theory...maybe......horrible in reality......games got enough bugs as it is, and all voice recognition software sux as it is, combine the two and u get one big mess of a game that would prob just crash to the desktop after you try to run and promptly display the message "NO" on your screen.

other games have perfected it... like uhm.....soccom 1 and 2... i was amazed......with this yeah, i get what ur sayin with bugs and all but...idk...well acually... EA would never do it...cuz their ....yeah.... could be an add-on... a mod of some sort... i mean think about it... all the other games... voice recognition software does sorta suck but u gotta be kinda amazed at where its at in this point in time...its pretty cool it works at all... juss tweak it a bit, more tolerance n it would be great.... if u tweak it...itl work... i used it for windows xp for a while....

UT2004 has this. You can tell individual bots or you whole team to attack/defend certain positions.

I only found this out a short time ago as I got fed up with people Kart-wheeling around like a fairy on online games (UT kind-of passed me by) so I didnt play it much, but when I found out I went back & tried it on singleplayer & it worked quite well.

I used to GameVoice for voice chat and voice recognition in BFV for issuing all sorts of radio commands. It worked like a charm.

It won't work in BF2 because there are no keyboard shortcuts for them

Been a while since I played but it was something like "Team / [botname] " "Defend / Attack" "[spawnpoint or whatever they are called in UT]" while pressing a comm button. I think that there were some more like "cover me" & probably some others. Didnt use it much as I felt pretty stupid talking to my PC

There were sometimes problems with the speech recognition but overall it worked quite well.

Yeah, UT2k4 has it pretty well. I have an israeli accent and it could still understand me.

It would be something like "Charlie, attack!", or "Everyone, defend!". You could even do funny things like scream "Bravo, get in!" so he'd jump into the nearest flying vehicle, let him take off, then say "Bravo, jump out!", and he falls to his doom. Hehehehehe.
