How do you get commander points?

Ive played the game since the day the demo came out but have never really been commander. You don't get points for kills, so how exactly do you get commander points?

for helping the team, like dropping supply crates, responding to their requests, commending them when they are doing well...

Be a medic or supplier and run with your team and revive resuplie when the uv and radar are in work.
