    Karkand = Grenade Spam

    Yes, its a great map, very intense.

    Ultimately it always seems to come down to greande-spam. Most rounds on this map quickly devolve into tons of spam.

    Am I wrong?

    i dont see it ( Spam ).... granades are part of the game ..
    Try americas army several versions ago, then you would have seen granade spam . ( Map : BRIDGE ) that is why they removed granades..
    i just dont like this "Flopping" thing . when an enemy see's you and flopps to the ground and kills you .. unrealistic IMO . but its still a game and im HOOKED on BF2.

    cheers

      You are indeed wrong. If anything is spammed it's the noobcannon. I only see nades thrown at a flag. I rarely see em much other than that. Oh and in that one little alley way..lots in there.

          Hah then u guys have played with your eyes closed. Just played on One.se server and 10 guys were support class givin each other ammo and throwing grenades and getting 5+ kills almosts all the time, with scores around 80 minmum. And thats just after a couple of minutes.. Me myself I was siting in mu Humvee in the outskirts of the map enjoying the view and waiting ot get my final bronze badge. The basic transport.. :)

            Part of the problem is that dumbasses keep running into areas that are filled with grenade spam. At the beginning of the round, I will see everyone bunch up in those alleys for 5 minutes straight. No wonder people are chucking nades left and right.

              I normally only see nades thrown at that poor flag, the one closest to the American starting point.

                When USMC uses the noobcannons at the start, it's great for people like me who play support. You know you're pretty much going to have a +60 point round resupplying.

                Counter = Artillery

                As MEC, you know the noobcannons are coming. So I tend to play medic, since you're pretty much going to have a +60 point round reviving, healing and saving tickets.

                Counter = Artillery

                Even though noobcannons are a factor, it basically comes down to the commander and tank whores. If you're commander is a nooblet, you're going to lose. If you don't neutralize those tanks, you're going to lose.

                  Funny this topic was posted. This morning on the subway ride into work I thought about this subject.

                  Last night I played until the map rotation reached Karkland since that is my favorite map before ending my gaming night. Low and behold, I am playing and at least half of the opposing team on a 32 man server is using the grenade launcher of their assault rifle. They were not even using their bullets. There was just so much spam from 8 or 9 players, that we could not stay alive. Spawn locations spammed with a grenade shot even before a player could combat it. It was getting a little rediculous playing the USMC side. Finally someone was able to sneak through to the opposite side and cap a flag by the bridge area.

                  I am starting to think that the grenade launcher portion of the assault rifle might be a tad bit overpowering. It seems the pattern now is to charge a flag with the launcher part first and the rifle with bullet parts second. Something just does not seem right about this in my opinion. Yes it is a grenade and they are supposed to do area damage, but with the speed of the projectile and its accuracy, it is becoming more like a soft target rocket launcher than a slower moving grenade launcher.

                  Now I am even seeing players do the Quake 1 style of jump to be able to arch it down more so they can fire it really close and not take damage.

                  I think this needs to be toned down some.

                    i agree with the statement of, "if its in your kit why not use it". in otherwords, dont ever complain about some weapons that is in game for us ALL to use. people say "OMG stop with teh l33t nade hax! u n00b!" well, you have grenades too....so u can use them if u want, jsut dont ***** at me becuase your retarded, predictable, and run down small corridors over and over again expecting that everone else is gonna leave u alone while you go around and kill people....its called tactics and the people that usually ***** are the ones that have none. imo, i think i actually prefer the hand grenade to the m203 due to its bouncing ability and greater splash damage.

                      Yeah, cause in a real fight soldiers just stand stock still like morons and get themselves shot. Flopping is one of the more realistic elements of the game in fact. What's unrealistic is the accuracy you maintain when standing upright and shooting or even worse, strafing. I don't think EA/Dice have ever actually fired assault rifles, and it shows in the game.

                      The only unrealistic part about the flop(and I know this from experience) is that diving prone slips the buttstock off your shoulder and sometimes causes enough of a helmet sag that you have to adjust it in order to see properly. In short, there's no way you could be standing and shooting and go prone without any sort of delay. There aren't so many hills in the game that diving prone is really practical in terms of realistic combat sense, but whatever.

                            One thing I've never liked is the classification of the m203 as a 'noobcannon.' It isn't really any easier to kill someone up close with one than it is to kill someone up close with an AK, so why isn't there a whole bunch of whining about AK users being lame because they can go up and hose someone down before they have time to blink. This is the main reason you only see heavy close-quarters grenade launcher use by the USMC- the MEC and Chinese don't *need* the extra power because their gun far outclasses the m16 in a close-quarters situation. Amusingly enough, at mid-range there are a good many people who switch from their AK to their g30 (or whatever it is designated) because they've learned how to aim it and thusly can compete with the m16's ability to '1-burst' you at those ranges, I always have to wonder if the guy who just blew me out of my firing position that way would start *****ing if I had dropped a grenade at his feet because I didn't want him to have a similar chance to pop me with his AK as he was denying my m16? So, unless you *really* think that anyone who has an m16 should just stand there and say 'shoot me' when someone comes along with their AK just because they aren't able to land their bursts as well as the other guy can hose down a room (if you can, good for you, you're reflexes are better than mine. When I come blow you up before you have a chance to fire, that's my resourcefulness trumping your reflexes, boo-hoo) there's really no reason to degrade people who find one method easier than the one you would prefer them to use. It would be like saying the US specops guys shouldn't use their M4's because they're too accurate, they should have to stick to their pistols instead.

                            As for karkand, apart from the one flag everyone agrees on (which you pretty much HAVE to grenade in order to survive getting up there) I don't see all that much grenade 'spam,' usually its LAV-rape that racks up the disastrous kills (the tanks are scary but a lot of times they're busy killing each other. Meanwhile the LAV can go on a killing spree through a couple crowded areas and mow down a good 10-15 people before it gets brought down, and that's if the MEC team are quick about it. Really have to keep mines *everywhere* on that map or else you'll lose on attrition even if you somehow manage to hold onto most of the CPs.

                              The fact of the matter is that nades were desighned to flush out or destroy hardpoints (i.e the baseard standing at the top of the ladder waiting for you to climb it so he can cap u in the face) Karkland has alot of these points and that is why nades are used so much!

                              As for nade spammers just dont run into there nades! jest sneak around and knife them, and is they are chucking nades in every direction just dont go near them and let them get a bunch of tks!
