Uncurable problem????

Ok, before i say anything, here are my specs:
1gb RAM
radeon 850XT PE 256mb

Now, my game gets constant stuttering online, that includes the "there is a problem with your connection" message flahing, as well as overall warpy (game stops for like 5 secs, and whatever direction i was going in sticks, and i end up 10 feet away) I have all settings on medium and most of the dynamic settings on low. I have reinstalled the game and patch and manually updated punkbuster. I have opened ALL the necessary ports on my firewall/router and have also changed my hardware accelleration, stopped all non system BG tasks (even explorer) and lowered my overall resolution. The game STILL STUTTERS, even on singleplayer, i get some slight graphical stuttering(not as bad as online, but still, WTF??!!?)

The only possible problem i see right now is that i have an instance of "wuauclt.exe" rtunning under my user name, and an identical process under "System" Is it possible the first instance is a trojan or worm causing computer troubles? I have also done those registry enabling tricks (enable by changing 0 to 1) AND MY GAME STILL LAGS HORRIBLY. I connect to a multitude of servers, with pings ranging from 125-400 and i get identical results. anyone have ANY IDEAS?? :cry:

EDIT: i forgot to mention i have the catalyst 5.7 driver for my card, but the game still lagged with the original drivers

its not a problem with your computer your settings or anything inside your box. this game was poorly designed with shooty code and horrible memory management. just take a look they cant even patch the game correctly without screwin that up all boils down to horrible testing and lack of common sense when it comes to inputing new data into the system.. try waitin till the end of the month when they release 1.03 they are preaching its got over 140 fixes for the game so dont stress out just yet they may rise from the ashes and take this game into something it could and should be =)

I'm having the same issue except for my single player plays fine on any settign untill I get CTD after 10min or so.
My specs are Msi k8n neo plat 2
msi 6800 gt 256
nvidia onboard
5mb connection
1Gb of Geil Ram which I think is most of my problem and the nvidia drivers suckin butt. Don't know if I can wait untill the next patch.This game might just go for a ride.

I have ati x800 platimun and 1 GIG ram. I get studdering too. I tried a few tweaks I found on a website

they also have a section to tweak for BF2. It did help a lot but I still get some issues with studder and I have my settings mostly on Medium. With my computer I would expect I should run on High on most things.

Looking forward to a patch to help this from EA or ATI.

Had many of the same problems and still not stutter free completely, but much better after adding another gig of ram.

Prior to that I was having really bad graphic corruptions (flashing textures, lock ups-stuttering in game, landscape turning black (along with gun "zoomed" gun sights and helo blades turning into black squares).

Added another gig and gone......
Settings High, 2x AA, 1280x1240.

Go to the "F Word" (Frys) and pick up a gig. If it works, great you will be happy. If not, Frys has a 15 day return. Nothing to loose.

What do you all have in common?
Who do you have the internet threw?
EA never said you need a fast Cable modem.
I know from playing other online games that faster your speed the better gameing you had.

Goto http://www.speakeasy.net/speedtest/ and test your speed!
If you run at 4Mb per sec, that SUCK for BF2 thats only good for BF 1942
With glich free gameing goto a server with a good ping and test your speed to see where your getting the best uplink.
Comcast has a $10.00 doller upgrade you can get i got the upgrade just for BF2

Min of 2 gig Ram and most people are cured. I have not had one single bad BF2 issue. Not one!!!

it's the wuauclt.exe that is causing the prob as it is a process that used to be used by win 98 but is not used in XP, it may be a trojan.

I had it a while ago, it opens the doors for other malware and spyware advertising to be installed on your pc, and you will find that games stutter alot which get worse over time as more adware accesses net, eating up your bandwidth.

try to run ad-aware, spybot and microsoft anti-spyware beta, and make sure u dont have any blocking programs running that will restore to previous state, otherwise it will return.

worked for me anyway.

I have exactly the same problem as you DaLancer.

I thought that installing the 5.7 driver for my card would help but its created a totally new problem. Now every time I play the game, about 10 mins in, the graphics go all wrong. Bridges and trees disappear for a few seconds then reappear. Then my pc just restarts! When rebooted it shows me a warning saying it has recovered from a serious error. :cussing:

Have the same problem as you! The game sometime hangs when I am moving in a certain direction and it continue to move in that direction for a second. Not fun when you are trying to peek around a corner, and you suddenly end up in the middle of the street.

Thought it was server-related lagg, but now I suspects that something is eating my bandwidht. I have also seen I have the process wuauclt.exe running in the background. And I know I have a couple of trojans in my system since AVG-virus reports some GetAccess.class viruses, but he seems unable to cure them (anyone know how get rid of these?). My SpyBot 1.3 doesn´t report anything!? Haven't tried AdAware though.

Could this lagg depend on these trojans? Strange thing is it doesn't happen all the time. Some servers could be totally unplayable, but when I switch server, the lagg often disappears.

I have also encountered the strange "quick blue-screen and reboot"-problem as someone mentioned above. Could this have something to do with trojans or viruses as well?

i must be lucky or done something right in a previous life. aside from the occasional crast to desktop, i've never had any problems at all. Even in 1.0, nothing wrong.

I found that the ATI Catalyst driver 5.7 causes this. I have fixed this problem now by reinstalling the 5.6 driver. Try that. If you don't have the driver on you PC you can find it on the Internet easily enough.

Still haven't cured the hanging problem though.
