Useless Commanders

I really wanna know why some ppl even bother being commanders... I mean honestly if your not goin to support your squads why bother? There is nothing more frustrating than being pinned down and both your squad members who are antitank are outta ammo and your support and medic have been killed and the commander will not give you supplies because he is off flyin around in a choppa getting his 2x bonus and ampin his points up while you and your squad are being left out to dry. Does anyone else experience this ? Useless commanders that is....

Also depends on the server - sometimes i've been commander and had to go out in the chopper and capture a flag myself because none of the damn stupid lone wolves in the game wanted to do so or they have let all your assets get owned -- that or you take on commander because NO ONE else has, and then get abused cause your not being a 100% commander.

I agree a bad/completely abscent commander is a real pain, but remember that sometimes its not the commanders fault.

I was a commander tonight and only because no one else was filling the job I try to not only let the voice over tell the squad that supplies are incoming or arty but I speficly mention Alpha brave charlie or delta whatever the case is what is incoming. Granted my Commander points are only 114 but I have been commander a total of 3 times. Problem is the lone wolves out there that don't bother getting into squads and run around willie nillie playing ring around the frelling rosie with the flags and makeing the commanders job H**L. But that is only my experience.

Yeah I hate bad commanders. The ones who won't UAV or spot people.

I think some people just like to arty and that's the entire reason they be commander.

I hate it when you ask for orders, or 'what do you want us to do commander?' and you get no response, no orders, no nothing. It gets so frustrating, then the squad leaders decide what to do and they may not be doing whats best and the whole team lacks co-ordination.

On the other side, I also hate it when you are commander and you issue orders to a squad and the squad leader rejects them every time, no matter what they are, even if they are close to the said objective.

Certainly there are bad commanders out there, but most annoying thing is that there are so few people willing to do the commanders bidding. No matter what you do, explain why it's good to go capture flag, why to defend, you get lines like: STFU, negative, no sir and so on... No teamplay, no co-operation, no nothing...
Then, what can you do? Just try your best to predict what the squads do and want, support them with UAV, spot enemies, drop supplies and use arty at random. And when your toys get broken, no one is willing to repair them... you have to repair them yourself. At last what is your reward? Yes, TK penalties from noobs who run head first into arty strikes... It gets very old after a while and it's the main reason I'm not playing as a commander so much anymore. When new patch comes and you can have points for destroying CO's toys it becomes even more annoying being CO... I will destroy those toys, though :p

I cant play as commander, becuase when i try to leave the commander screen my Graphics fuc up . However sometimes when im know that when the map is going to finish i will be leaving the game i apply for the position. I only apply as the map starts and go the whole round.

I simply find a quiet place lie down and get down to the business of supporting my troops. I dont care about scoring, im not there to go out and kill, im there to command and thats what I do.

I do my best to ensure my trrops are supplied, I scan/UAV the hot spots direct my squads and lay down well placed fire missions.

Playing as commander yesterday afternoon on a 16 player map of Operation Cleansweep and was directly involved in the thick of the fight, ducking away and laying low to give orders, arty etc when I can. Next thing I know, after doing my job spotting enemy outside the UAV scans, I get told to 'STFU' and kicked by vote as commander by my own team.

Honestly, This game has attracted the real 'kiddie's with attitude more so than any other game I've played before. Probably because they are used to playing by themselves and the whole teamwork aspect just doesn't hit their G-Spot.

It's handbags at 20 paces between some of them at times. At least bots don't give me **** when I trying to do my job, they actually form squads, follow orders and try to complete objectives.

Not everyone are born leaders. Some try and fail miserably. I think its just the way it is and it's beautifully reflected in BF2. Not everyone can fill those shoes. Plus, everyone has to start somewhere right? New commanders lack experience. And yes, they do bite. I hate it too when i'm in need of arty or supplies and NO ONE answers your call. I get so mad....i think about mutiny. Maybe the new patch will give you points for assinating bad commanders.....hmmm

Yeah it is pretty annoying though they do want 2 get medals,ribbons etc...
but the server i go on hardly has any commanders on cos there are so many mutinys.

Like with most MP games, i think it will be a matter of finding the best servers, ones that regulary have Squads and decent teamwork emphisis. Maybe servers that are [SquadsOnly] which kick lone wolfs, i know it seems a bit dictarian, but if you want to play loan wolf, then go to a different server.

I play commander on occaision (see stats) My biggest issue has been when after playing for 10 minutes a team has no commander and I take it some smacktard iniates a mutiny. C'mon how dumb can they be with only one body?????

A-Freaking-men... I had that happen yesterday, first time as Commander and I was doing what i thought to be a good job. I was supporting those squads that needed it.. i was making extensive use of the Scan/UAV and Arty.. i would announce it and tell everyone to check thier screens for the incomming Artillery.

And this one squad, the only full squad, would always deny my orders.. no matter what they were. Attack and hold this position, (no way man). Take out these guys (no way man). and so on and so forth... so i stopped supporting that particular squad and focused on the 2 that did listen. Needless to say the leader of that squad voted for mutiny when i denied them supplies. Deny my orders constantly.. i deny your request for help :P
