anybody use a sata pci card?

    here is the deal
i got a 36 gig raptor, it works fine on my computer, so i got a adaptec sata connect to put it in to my brothers computer (which is an asus a7n8x) since he has no onboard sata connections. so it doesn't work as a primary drive. xp was already installed yet it kept rebooting before it got to xp logo. so i tried to install xp again and it says no hard drive is connected. anybody have the same problem?

I'm guessing you need to install the cards drivers before anything will work properly. I believe Windows asks this during the setup, although I could be mistaken. In all honesty, the performance difference isn't going to be that huge compared to a 7200RPM driver. I have 2x74GB WD Raptors in a RAID-0 and in all honesty, there isn't that much of a difference, unless you compare when I'm accessing a huge file, then I'm faster. Otherwise, for gaming and stuff, there is minimal performance increase.
