God is a complicated word. Its a general noun as well as a proper noun. So god can be a general word to describe a person (especially in internet language) or a god. But the word god is also a name for whatever christians worship. So calling yourself god.whatever..to me isnt a problem. If someone says "im a god", its not really specifically offensive.

however...taking the proper name of a real religious figure can be offensive for understandable reasons. I wouldnt be offended but i can understand why people would be. For example, if someone called themselves "Jesus" or "Vishnu" or "Mohamed" (which i think are real names not generic labels).
