    EAX - Crap?

I get the sound of a really windy day, emphasised bullet hitting the ground noises and missing gunshot sounds.. Whats the deal??

when it works its awesome (echoeing gunshot sounds in hallways etc) but almost all the other times for me at least, it causes sound errors like the ones ur getting. i leave it off.

Follow these steps and your sounds will be awesome! (Assuming you have an Audigy2).

Download the beta drivers with OpenAL support from the website. While you're there grab the EAX 4.0 drivers as well.

Goto http://developer.creative.com/articl...&top=38&aid=46 and download the OpenAL.exe, and install this.

Browse to: C:/Windows/system32, and find a file called "OpenAL32.dll", when you do Copy this file (do not paste it yet!)

Browse to: C:/Program Files/EA GAmes/Battlefield 2/, and find the file called "BF2OpenAL.dll" and rename it to "BF2OpenAL.original". After that paste the file we got from your system32 folder. Rename this file to "BF2OpenAL.dll".

Start BF2 up, goto your audio settings and reset them to "hardware" and "high" with EAX enabled.

I did this and I have no issues with sound anymore. I even get VoIP to work on a more consistant basis.

Ya, it sucks. Dice has never implemented EAX correctly.

Yea I also have it turned off because it decreases frame rate and is buggy.

So the problem is on your current rig, or the new one???
              Is your sound card supported??
Just ditched my SB Live 24 - worthless piece of crap - for an Audigy. Sound problems solved.

Its not you its the EAX, it over emphasises stupid thing like engine sounds or the wind until they are louder than everything else. Just turn it off.
