As we are all starting to become used to the maps in BF2, the time has come to begin developing new maps.
One way of doing this and keeping the BF2 community strong is to allow its players create the maps and submit them to EA. If EA likes your maps, you would get a certain percentage or predetermined price for your map(s). Your map(s) would be sold on their website and will be a great source of supplimental income to EA.
What does this do for EA and BF2 players?
1. Gives players motivation to use their creative juices to make better maps because not only will you be able to share the maps with others to play, you'll be compensated for the map you created.
2. This could cut costs for EA because they would not have to continue to hire development teams and test teams to develop the maps.
3. It will give the BF2 community much more variety of maps.
4. It will give EA continued revenues off of BF2. Let's say that each month, a really good map like "i.e. lost village of DC" comes out and they sell the map for $8-10, can you imagine the amount of money they can make if the map catches on? We're talking about 10's of thousands of downloads for just one map.
IMO, this could be a win-win situation for everyone and prolong the life of the game for a very long time. They have the infrastructure to do so, why not try it?
