I had the same dissapointment u had a little while back. What i did to cure it though was playing on non-ranked servers. I never had so much fun on BF2 before compared to ranked servers..The un-ranked ones have either noobs who dont know what "ranked" means (and are fun and easy to kill too! :-D), or people just playing around with classes and testing strats. I highly suggest doing this...knowing u dont HAVE to cap that flag, or chase that fleeing enemy soldier really makes the game a lot funner :)

Hell i cant think of a game i want to play anymore. They are all the same. nothing original has come out in a long time... its sad....

Don't know what to tell you man. Go take a break and find a new hobby. Get some air and enjoy summer. Come back if you find some interest. Sounds like you are fully burned out.

After hitting Corporal i somewhat lost a lot of Interest in playing BF2 - heres my personal main reasons :

Gaining High Ranks is too hard because of ridiculous Point-Requirements and has no real Benefits anyhow ( one usually unlocks the most favoured Weapons in the first Ranks ).

Judging from some Sites out there, gaining higher Medals is an Effort of a LifeTime. I dont play a Game to put 2000 Hours into it just to get some worthless Golden Graphical Gizmo..

The Punishment System might be a nice idea - but as usual with any System that works great in Theory - the Idiots tend to break it..

Playing Commander is becoming more of a Pain - Preparing a FlagPoint for Capture by Artillery-Striking it, and then seeing a Transport-Helicopter of your own fly right into that and get destroyed is just a joke - oh and of course some Guy in the Helo will punish you for it.

The Autobalance System is just... ah well..

The mods that come out will bring more fun to the game than EA did in the first place.

Well it's still very much fun for me, being a relative noob (around 20 hours put in) and things are getting better as I learn how to play more effectively, but there are some obvious things that bug me like...

- people abusing the TK punish function like others have mentioned, I hate it when people complain that we are losing the battle but no one wants to take commander so I do it and continually get punished because the a**holes don't listen to the artillery warnings, then have the nerve to try to mutiny, so when I teamchat and say, "Hey, I DONT WANT to be commander, I will gladly resign if someone will take it" I am greeted by crickets. Sorry, bit of a rant there...

All in all, it's a great game, especially for someone like me who is lucky to get in an hour a day...

i love the game..cheekly turning infantry into roadkill as u desperately escape an arty strike i think they should add more ranks and change the points so they are lower cos they are bs 2.5million points no way...isnt there meant to be ranks such as leuiatenant (sorry i cannot spell it) or major...

Ya, i've been programming my own game for now. It has everyhting that BF2 promised but left out. Except it doesnt really... just everything i wanted. And all i got to say is wow.... its not all that hard if you just put your mind to it.

the ranks such as lieutenant and major are officer ranks...the only ranks EA has put into the game are enlisted ranks

but anyways, back on topic...also being relatively new to the game (~17 hrs played), its still very fun to me. i try not to worry too much about my stats, and its great when u get to try out new strats that u came up with during the day. but, to each his own...if u really are getting bored of BF2, just step away for a while and see what happens. or as others have recommended, try joining a clan...i haven't done this myself, but i would imagine it to be very engaging :)

So if earning medals and ranks takes a long time you don't wanna play anymore? you must not even like the game that much to begin with. I played SOF for like a year... and there were not ranks or anything... it was just fun.

And the people complaining about not wanting to be commander and the TKing... you are just on a bad server.. disconnect and find another one... sometimes it takes a while, but every night I find a decent server.

Yeah, being punished for TKing someone because they're stupid really sucks... I've been banned from a couple servers because retards can't figure out when they drive over a skull and crossbones they're gonna die... or morons who run out in front of your speeding car and punish YOU for it. I was playing engineer a lot last night and it's a great class, but I figured out you can't be one and use it to its full potential on a server full of newbies.

Sure it´s going to become repeative flying the same plan enroute to drop a bomb over and over to score points.

This game isn't a MMORPG. You don't "level up" and get new swords or pretty new hats. The unlockables are not a 'machine gun +12 against foriegners' ... its just a nice little addition to those of us who play alot.

Any game that has friendly fire on is going to be frustrating at times. It's the nature of the beast.

People who are saying its not fun no more is because you are playing on the damn ranked server 24/7 in order to get a gun and some ribbons and few medals or something. The ranking system is pretty much pointless to me.

Ya its fun to gain the ranks and all that, but its not as much fun and competitive as it is to play on a non-ranked server or a clan match. I suggest you go take a break and do something outside besides staying home.

I am still having fun because we usually scrim a lot and we have practices all the time. We are making up a new squad again and we will be rejoining TWL again so it will be more fun :)

Oh well, that's my 2 cents on the whole thing anyway.

Yes, but you are still whipped to play on ranked if you want to unlock those bloody weapons. And you know what it´s like, some people can´t hack it if they don´t have full access to their own game.

lol no matter how 1337 you wanna be by how many medals and stripes you have, theres always gonna be like 10,000 more people with less of a life than you who can sit there and literally play the game all day long for a year straight and obliterate your score.
