problem with installing patches

When I'm installing patch 1.01 or 1.02 a square appeares that says update failed. I have no idea why. Anybody now why this is happening. This means that I can't play bf2 because I've got no servers with the same version please help.

Lol, your not supposed to install patch 1.0.1 because that one has a memory leak in it. You gotta install Patch 1.0.2.

well I saw that later but 1.02 doesn't work neither.

You need to uninstall Battlefield 2. Make sure you delete the folder from your "My Documents" as well. Then re-install from disc, and download the 1.02 patch from ftp://largedownloads.ea.com/pub/patc...atch_v_102.exe

I followed the uninstall guide, the one with the annoying big fonts, written by someone who thinks they understand the problems well. I followed the uninstall guide to a T, and it still gave me the patch failed problems. I removed all the reg entries and it still didnt work. SO I had to reformat to get BF2 to work again.

No matter what these pricks with big fonts tell you, EA has released a product that invades your computers internal software structures and its virtually impossible to uninstall and reinstall.
