    Spotting in BF2..

    How does this work exactly?

I know to push "Q" to bring up a communication screen that allows me to choose a voice call, but when it comes to the spotting call, how do you determine what you're spotting? For instance, calling out "Enemy troops spotted", or "Enemy chopper identified", etc.

The circle in the middle of the Comm Rose, if there is an enemy (i.e. a Chopper) and you hold down Q and then click with your mouse button it will call out "Enemy Heli Spotted". It changes depending on what object you are spotting in the circle.

You can also choose what has been spotted manualy by holding q and right clicking.

Note that if you right click and manually chose what you're seeing, then only the people in your squad will see it appear in the minimap, while everyone on your team sees the radio shout. If you're not in a squad, then people still hear the radio shout, but nothing appears in their minimap.

Nothing like surrounding yourself with hostile aircraft/boats on Karkand, =)

Hmm, I was wondering how people spot things. Now if we could just get stupid *******s to stop spamming it all the time. I swear some people are so ****ing stupid it scares me

A lot of people get angry at me for 'spamming' the spotte command, not realising it's helping them and the team by putting enemies on their minimap. I'm always grateful when we have a good 'spotter'.

Are you serious? I wish a lot more people would spam it, as long as they are making legitimate spots. It's so incredibly helpful to me to actually have the location of an enemy on my minimap. As soon as I hear a spot called, I automatically glance at the minimap and see if the spot is anywhere near me. I can't tell you how many times it's saved me a death and gotten me a kill.

Unless of course you're talking about times when you hear:

                  "Enemy troops!"
                  "Enemy troops!"
                  "Enemy troops!"
                  "Enemy troops!"
                  "Enemy troops!"

...and look up to realize that the same player has justed spotted the same, single infantry soldier 5 times in a row in under 2 seconds. I see this happen every so often and I don't understand why people do it. Unless they're just trying to piss people off.

Just use the circle in the middle of the comm rose.
