Can anyone help? I have no idea.....

Hello all - I've had all the various problems with BF2 from freezing, Booting to Desktop etc.... and have gone through all the posts to try and correct these from manually installing the latest Punkbuster updates to trying the Omega Ati drivers etc... I've had varying degrees of success, but I'm still getting freezes either within 10 mins of playing or when loading up the map, and even getting the odd reboot of my PC mid-game. I've even uninstalled, reinstalled applied the patches, offered my PC an Olive branch. I only play on Ranked servers as I'm trying to unlock the M95, only 147 points away now (no funny remarks please, I know I'm rubbish)

However I had a break through the other night, I logged onto one of the Divo Networks servers and was able to play for hours on end. with no glitches, lagging, pauses, freezes, reboots. So I tried all the Divo Network server and I can play all of them ok, but if I log onto a different server I freeze up again. I haven't tried all the ranked servers, but I sure I'll probably me able to play on some of the other ok too. The ones I can't play on from memory are any other the Internode Servers, EA Official Servers, Multiplay.co.uk Servers, SGS, Art of War and a few other I can't remember.

Anyone got any ideas why this is happenning???

As a side note - I still have all my weapons unlocked when playing the Divo servers, which is a bit of a pain as I was so close to earning the M95 myself.

I have this problem as most server are based in the US and im in the UK so i always look for the ones saying hosted in UK or europe but in the morning ill play on US servers as not many americans play online at that time as its night time for them.

I'm also in the UK, so have tried connecting to the European based servers as priority. I'm just glad to get to some playing time out of the game as I spent £30 on the game, and then £50 on a 9800XT G/card.

The freezing can be attributed to several things .....Heat on CPU and vid card or both, lack of RAM and virtual memory being allocated (allowed to be used) to the game program, over filling of cache game file, memory dumps, bad file copying of program - punkbuster-patch, overloaded CPU, etc etc.

Your SYSS/rig/PC should play BF2 ok if it is set up well but on low to medium settings (Some have some high settings as well)

Sound sound sound. Did you check your sound? There has been issues with this game and its sound. If you're using onboard either set it to software, or turn it down. The only other option would be pick up a Audigy2 ZS for $71 USD. (like what 40 BP?)
