Let me add that it works, it really works for once.

Please make sure you follow the directions about leaving the software as is, remove only the drivers with the program in you CREATIVE directory. Then add them with it.

          READ THE DIRECTIONS.

This fix caused me massive lag instead.

But then again..I'm using an Audigy 1 OEM softmodded to Audigy 2. So I shouldn't have expected anything else

The sound was better though..EAX was VERY sweet sounding. Usually I can barely hear any EAX effects at all.

Well I didn't follow exactly those steps but let me tell you, the way I did it seems much easier.

First off download the Beta drivers with OpenAL support in them. Also download EAX 4.0. Install both of them.

Once you're done, go to this website:

And download the OpenAL.exe file (this will install a new OpenAL32.dll file in yoru system).

After you have done that, open your "c:/windows/system32/" folder and do a search for "OpenAL". The file should pop up. Once you have found it right click and COPY the file.

Now open your "C:/Program Files/EA Games/Battlefield 2/". Find the file called "BF2OpenAL.dll" and rename it "BF2OpenAL.original". Now paste the file we copied in your system32 folder. Rename it "BF2OpenAL.dll". When you restart the game if it has an error, you need to recheck the spelling. (it happened to me because I forgot to take out the 32). Otherwise goto sound, set it to Hardware, High, and have EAX enabled, and walla, you're good to go. No stuttering, FPS drop, or anything like that.

I tried those EAX drivers and seems to help.

You're using an Audigy2 card correct? If not then this doesn't apply to you. Update your motherboard drivers as well. And if you have onboard audio, disable in your BIOS.
