You need at a minimum 875 kills with various classes.. not that hard huh...
you also need MORE than seven thousand hours played. BTW there is 8760 hours in a year.

Some of the medals are just insane... I just get so frustrated when I think about it.. no one will ever have them all.
More than 7000 hours???? Where did you here that? I believe every detail of all the awards are correct (or atleast i have never heard anyone complain about them) at this site- ubar.sc That site says that it takes only 500 hours. With all expert badges(which should take long enough). I trust that site, and i use it like a text book for getting my awards.

However for the Distingueshed Service Medal you need a total of 7000 hours. Between leader, member, and commander.

Sure you´d get points for killing. But as the US army speaks of digital warfare(?) , where knowing the enemy´s location is everything,. I think spotting the enemy´s location should hold a reward. Right now people walk all over eachother like a bar brawl, while some lamer is in a tank or plane, cropping points at a distance.

Until the badges and ribbons show up on my dress uniform ingame, I don't care about them.

I'm not playing for the badges/ribbons, I'm playing for the opportunity to own the poor fools on the other team! Admittedly, that isn't very often for me, lol, but when it does happen, it is worth more than any silly badge.

Getting medals and ribbons in BF2 is a lot like getting them in the real military. You don't go out trying to get one, you just do your own thing and they come to you with success.

I like the fact that only the few best and most dedicated players will ever have this award - and even in their case it's likely to take a LONG time. Gives you somethign long term to work for, and that was the point.

I'm sick of people *****ing about how hard it is to get ranks, etc. It was never intended to be quick or easy, and it's better that way.
I agree, It has a larger range of players and it keeps you wanting to play more for a longer period of time. Also, when you see someone with a medal like that, you know the dedicated players from the average ones. I wouldnt change a thing about the system they put in for medals/badges.

The mental picture that goes with that is hilarious

Just imagine: Running down the street gold stars all over you chest, silver stars on your arms, and bronze on your legs. The ribbons would be sewn into your gloves, and the rest of the medals would hang off your helmet like a ghillie suit helmet

I would agree if this was an MMORPG... but not a shooter which just doesn't have as long lifespan, BF3 will surely be out before anyone gets that medal

That's where I got my info. For the medal I named you need to have Expert of a lot of classes which means you have to have played AT LEAST 1000 hours as that perticular class.
