    ATI Cards & Omega Drivers

For weeks I have been pulling my hair out over the stuttering in BF2.

i have several PCs, a couple of which have an ATI 9800PRO/256 and
a ATI 800XL/256.. both of these cards gave me BAD stuttering
problems in the game... it didnt matter what settings I set it at it
stuttered bad.. I tried 5 or 6 versions of the cat drivers.. the ones
that came with my card, the latest ones, and a couple in between,
didnt matter... I even formatted both machines , reinstalled BF2,
    didnt matter..

FINALLY! I installed the omega drivers last night on my ATI 800XL/256
machine.. BEAUTIFUL!!! I quickly bumped up the settings to 1024x768
and maxed out the res' settings.. BEAUTIFUL!!!

Uninstalled the ATI drivers on my other ATI 9800PRO/256 machine,
    installed the omegas.. BEAUTIFUL!!!

I can finally enjoy this game..

One reason that Omegadrives fix stuttering for some, is because it doesn't force a PCI Latency of 255/248 of the Pri/Sec display adapter, it just leases it at default level set by bios.
ATI Catalyst set it to 248/255, and can hog resources e.g. from sound card and thus cause stuttering.

There is a tool mentioned here in forums many times, that can set it too, but unneeded if using Omegadrivers.

I use the 5.6 ATI Catalyst drivers BF2 runs pretty good, but I guess trying out the omega drivers couldn't hurt.
